Afghanistan National Horticulture Development Organization (ANHDO) is a national non-governmental, non-profit and non-political organization registered with the Ministry of Economy and established in April 2009. The development of ANHDO is part of the European Union (EU) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) long term strategy for the development of horticulture sector in Afghanistan. Since then, ANHDO has developed into an important institution for horticulture development by comparing among other skilled and experienced Afghan professional organizations in the horticulture sector. ANHDO is operating in close coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) based on a separate Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Hence, ANHDO is a cornerstone of the long-term strategy for the development of the horticulture sector in Afghanistan.

 ANHDO is currently looking for a Manual Translation Technical Adviser for its project "Promoting resilient and equitable recovery of agriculture and livelihoods in Afghan communities (PREVALE) which is funded by FCDO.

The Purpose of the Assignment

The main purpose of this assignment is to translate the developed training manuals on climate-resilient and sustainable agricultural practices into clear, accurate, and technically consistent Dari language, ensuring that implementing partners can effectively use them as practical guidelines during the extension phase of the PREVALE project.

Scope:

The assignment will encompass the translation of all developed training manuals—including high-value crop packages, home-based seed and sapling production, home-based compost/bio-fertilizer production, and Integrated Pest Management (IPM)—from their original language into clear, accurate, and technically reliable Dari. The translator must ensure that all technical terms, processes, and guidelines are correctly conveyed, consistent, and aligned with the agricultural context of Afghanistan. The translated manuals must retain the structure, format, tables, visuals, and references of the original documents, ensuring readability and usability for implementing partners in the field.

The following are expected deliverables:

• Accurate and professionally translated Dari version of the comprehensive and climate-resilient training package for high-value crops.
• Dari translation of the training manual on home-based seed and sapling production.
• Dari translation of the training manual on home-based compost/bio-fertilizer production.
• Dari translation of the training manual on Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
• Monthly progress report detailing the status of translation, challenges, and completed outputs.
• Final compiled and proofread Dari version of all translated manuals submitted to ANHDO/PREVALE Project Manager.

• B. A in Agriculture, Master’s degree will be preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience translating manuals or official publications. preferably in agriculture, livelihoods.
• Strong planning, coordination, and team management skills.
• Familiarity with donor requirements (e.g., USAID, EU, FAO) and reporting standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; fluency in Dari and/or Pashto is an asset.
• Experience working in Afghanistan or similar fragile contexts is preferred
