About Organization of Human Welfare (OHW):

The Organization of Human Welfare (OHW) is a non-governmental organization and is non-political, not-for-profit, and impartial organization with no bias towards a particular religion, ethnicity, or political belief. It has its own independent legal status and entity. OHW is operating since 2007 in the country with active membership with the national clusters and international donor agencies in Afghanistan including SWABAC, ACBAR, AICS, BAAG, AWN and most of the national and international Clusters operates based in Afghanistan .

Job Descriptions:

Distribution and Technical Training:

  • Coordinate and oversee the distribution of agricultural inputs (seeds, tools, fertilizers, etc.) to targeted beneficiaries in Herat.
  • Deliver technical training to the wheat seed and kitchen gardening  beneficiaries.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of supplies to designated distribution points.
  • Maintain detailed records of distributions, including beneficiary lists, quantities delivered, and dates.

Beneficiary Engagement:

  • Selection of eligible beneficiaries trough door to door survey using KOBO toolbox and IDEA.
  • Communicate effectively with local farmers and community members to inform them about distribution schedules and procedures
  • Address any concerns or issues raised by beneficiaries regarding the distribution process.
  • Provide guidance and support to beneficiaries on the proper use of distributed inputs.

Logistics Management:

  • Collaborate with the logistics team to arrange transportation and storage of agricultural inputs.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate stock for upcoming distributions.
  • Report any discrepancies or issues with inventory and distribution to the Project Manager.

Data Collection and Reporting:

  • Collect and compile data related to distribution activities, including feedback from beneficiaries.
  • Prepare regular reports on distribution progress, challenges, and outcomes for submission to the Project Manager.
  • Assist in the evaluation of distribution efficiency and effectiveness.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure that all distribution activities comply with FAO policies and procedures, as well as local regulations.
  • Adhere to safety protocols to ensure the well-being of staff and beneficiaries during distribution activities.
  • Report any security concerns or incidents to the Project Manager immediately.

Community Relations:

  • Foster positive relationships with local authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders.

Participate in community meetings and forums to promote the project and gather feedback

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Agriculture diploma or equivalent. Additional training in practical field of Agriculture, or agriculture/horticulture is an advantage.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in agriculture or field distribution, logistics, or a related role, preferably within an international development or humanitarian context.
  • Skills:
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in using basic computer applications (MS Office, data entry tools).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Language: Fluency in Pashto and/or Dari; basic knowledge of English is an advantage.
  • Having Familiarity with IDEA (Identification, Delivery, Empowerment, Application) and KOBO toolbox is a plus point.
  • In accordance with local cultural norms and security requirements, female field staff are required to be accompanied by a mahram (close male relative) during official field assignments or travel outside the main duty station. The mahram’s travel and accommodation expenses will not be covered by the organization.

Other: Willingness to travel within Herat and work in remote areas as required.
