Established in 1991 by a group of educated Afghan women in exile, the Afghan Women's Educational Center (AWEC) is a nonprofit, nonsectarian, nonpolitical, and nongovernmental organization dedicated to advocating for and raising awareness about the rights of women and children in Islam.
Our core activities focus on empowering women, eliminating violence, and increasing women's participation in both domestic and societal spheres.
With over three decades of experience, AWEC possesses a profound understanding of Afghanistan's socioeconomic, cultural, and political landscape. We are recognized as a leading organization that addresses the diverse needs of various communities, which are shaped by numerous social and economic factors.
Since 2002, AWEC has collaborated with women and communities to enhance access to education, health, and vocational services in Afghanistan. Our initiatives extend to livelihood improvement, protection, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), humanitarian aid, grant management, capacity building, social rehabilitation, cohesion, and justice. AWEC has successfully implemented projects in Logar, Faryab, Kapisa, Khost, Panjshir, Wardak, Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Badakhshan, Parwan, Paktia, Paktika, Laghman, Nuristan, and Bamyan provinces, maintaining an active presence in Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Badakhshan, Parwan, Paktia, Paktika, Laghman, Nuristan, and Bamyan.

The Disaster Risk Reduction and Natural Risk Management Specialist is responsible for developing a Disaster Risk Reduction Plan or Community-Led Disaster Risk Reduction Plan through a community participatory planning process. Furthermore, the specialist is responsible for liquidating funds allocated for community priorities in CLDRMPs.
Responsibilities:
Complete community mobilization and sensitization for CLDRMP specifically, selecting community members, venues, and facilities for future use. Complete information of the project should also be provided to the community to reduce the bogus of the communities.
Form a risk reduction committee within the target communities in two districts of Paktika province (Barmal and Urgon).
Develop CLDRMP’s training materials using plain language for illiterate community members, using graphics, charts, and pictures.
Conduct training and use adult training methodology or using community-comfortable learning approaches and methods.
Present and submit community initiatives for feeding the CLDRMP.
Develop a Community-Led Disaster Risk Management Plan using a community participatory planning process.
Create a Disaster Risk Management Network to work closer with CLDRM committee members.
Conduct regular coordination meetings among CLDRM committee and network members.
Rework and finalize the CLDSMP and represent it to the community and induce them to seek funding, donate, and contribute through community initiatives to fund CLDRM activities.
Education and Experiance:
A Minimum of bachelor’s degree in agriculture or natural resource management.
A Minimum of 4 years of experience working with I/NGO in rural community development and agriculture development, climate change, DRR, and similar contexts.
Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to coordinate several projects and manage staff.
Good time management and scheduling skills
Ability to work within and meet donor deadlines and reporting requirements (e. quarterly report
Excellent analytical/problem-solving skills and detail orientation
Excellent English communication skills, Pashto language is essential.
Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills
Ability to establish working relations with target communities
Strong Interpersonal and leadership skills, as well as a team player
Knowledge of community inducing.
Evaluation and monitoring of the Training program
Proven reporting skills
Decision-making skills that are most appropriate to specific situations and immediately
Ability to develop implementation plans with a logical framework as well as develop monitoring and evaluation tools and processes to ensure that set goals and targets are achieved
Fluency in written and spoken Dari and Pushto languages and English is preferred.
Good knowledge of the intervention zones.
