Job Descriptions:

Job Summary:

ActionAid Afghanistan is seeking a skilled IT Coordinator to oversee and ensure the efficiency of the organization's IT systems. The IT Coordinator will be responsible for managing the organization's technology infrastructure and providing technical support to staff. Key responsibilities include monitoring and maintaining networks, servers, and systems; coordinating upgrades and installations; and troubleshooting system failures across all ActionAid Afghanistan offices. This role requires regular visits to field offices to ensure that the technological infrastructure works cohesively, efficiently, and securely. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in monitoring network and server performance, maintaining hardware and software, and establishing security protocols. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills are crucial for this role.

Job Responsibilities 01:   Provide efficient and high-quality technical support by ensuring system security, maintaining reliability, and implementing best practices to safeguard data and operations.

IT Support and System Administration Responsibilities

  • Install and regularly update software and antivirus across all systems to ensure smooth and secure functioning.
  • Maintain and update all computers, networks, printers, and scanners to ensure reliable daily operations.
  • Conduct basic IT training for staff on software, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and provide user capacity building based on specific needs.
  • Develop IT usage guidelines/policy of ActionAid Afghanistan in consultation with the Head of IT to standardize practices and improve efficiency as well as align with current context and practice.
  • Implement and maintain a monthly backup schedule for all systems onto external hard drives, with proper storage at the country office and folder sharing across PCs.
  • Establish and manage a data recovery system to restore deleted files when urgently needed; install, maintain, and service the data server for monthly backups.
  • Update the IT inventory list monthly and prepare comprehensive reports highlighting critical IT usage issues and recommended actions.
  • Safeguard all systems against power fluctuations by implementing proper low- and high-voltage protection.

Job Responsibilities 02:   Provide first-line troubleshooting and technical support to all IT users, ensuring timely resolution of hardware, software, and connectivity issues.

  • Ensure all staff have reliable access to the internet and SharePoint.
  • Maintain logbooks for all IT issues, re-activate services when needed, and undertake field visits for the support of team.
  • Set up and deliver quality IT support for events by checking and managing equipment both prior to and during the events.
  • Develop IT equipment requirements, review technical specifications, and provide input for procurement.
  • Support the procurement process for IT-related equipment and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
  • Perform and provide LAN and WAN support, troubleshooting, and ensure smooth operation of all IT systems and networks.
  • Manage, maintain, and resolve issues related to IT resources, connectivity, and network performance.
  • Monitor and maintain internet connectivity to ensure consistent access.
  • Provide end-user support for Office 365 applications and services.
  • Assist the Network Administrator in preparing short- and long-term IT development plans.
  • Conduct regular surveys and updates for software and hardware to ensure systems remain current.
  • Assist the IT Manager in configuring and maintaining user Home Directories and permissions.
  • Respond promptly to staff network access problems and support the Network Administrator in resolving interruptions.
  • Make regular field visits to support field office and staff in terms of network, problem solving, provide orientation and resolving interruption.

 

Job Requirements:

Education & Training:

Bachelor’s degree in IT or Computer Sciences from a recognized university, master’s degree is an asset.

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience with INGO in managerial/coordination role including LAN and WAN systems, with strong knowledge of various software packages, installation and de-installation processes, and IT problem-solving.

Preferred Certifications (optional):

  • CompTIA Network+ / Security+
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)

Other Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux servers, Active Directory, and network administration.
  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure, system administration, and cybersecurity.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows/Linux servers, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS).
  • Understanding cybersecurity best practices.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong familiarity with up-to-date Information Technology (IT) systems, including LAN and WAN. I am skilled in various software packages, installation and de-installation processes, and IT problem-solving.
  • Strategic Orientation: Knowledgeable in global IT functions with the ability to operate IT units independently.
  • Systems Management: Experienced in planning, monitoring, and evaluating IT systems, including budgeting and organizational aspects.
  • Teamwork & Leadership: Proven team-building skills with the ability to foster trust, collaboration, and motivation in diverse teams.
