About INTERSOS:

Over the past few years, Afghanistan has witnessed a relative improvement in security and stability across much of the country. This has allowed humanitarian actors like INTERSOS to maintain uninterrupted access and expand services in areas that were previously hard to reach. Despite this progress, the humanitarian situation remains critical, with millions of Afghans continuing to face acute vulnerabilities due to prolonged economic hardship, natural disasters, and limited access to essential services.

In 2025, more than half of the population is in need of humanitarian assistance, with food insecurity, child malnutrition, and displacement remaining key concerns. Natural disasters, such as floods and recent earthquakes, have further compounded the needs of already struggling communities.

INTERSOS continues to operate through a community-based approach with field bases in Kabul, Kandahar, and Zabul, delivering primary healthcare, nutrition, and protection services with a focus on women, children, and persons with disabilities. The organization enjoys strong community acceptance and collaborates closely with relevant national authorities, including maintaining the full participation of female staff in all activities.

While the operational environment is largely stable and conducive, funding shortfalls and systemic barriers such as restrictions on financial flows and administrative bottlenecks continue to impact the scope and scale of humanitarian response. Sustained support is crucial to ensure the continuity of life-saving services and to address the urgent needs of Afghanistan’s most vulnerable populations.

Job Descriptions:

The purpose is to establish and broadly support the resilience and well-being of vulnerable children and young people through structured activities conducted in a safe, child friendly, and stimulating environment known as Child Care Centers. Children in CCCs through (protection, health and nutrition) facilities will be offered child friendly activities like painting, drawing, storytelling, singing fun and sports teaching them child rights and child protection in an age-appropriate manner along with hand washing activities to promote hygiene of the children.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Under the overall supervision of the Protection Activity Manger and in close cooperation with other protection colleagues, the CCC will be 100% field-based.
  • S/He will actively contribute to the development and implementation of high-quality standards for activities within CCC.
  • Identify psychosocial activities to be implemented according to the children’s ages and situation and contribute to the development of a Child Care Center curriculum.
  • Supervision the deliver of CCC curriculum and other recreational activities with Children.
  • Ensure that Children feel safe and comfortable in the CCC facilities.
  • Ensure that the children are in central of CCC programming.
  • Communicate with children in a protective manner ensuring the respect of their rights.
  • Establish and encourage the most appropriate channel to achieve the best child participation in overall the project life cycles.
  • Daily management and supervision for the CCC animators and CCC facilitators.
  • Ensure the accurate and on time sublimation of the monthly data.
  • In coordination with PAM, draw a well-organised monthly plan for CCC activities.
  • Identify materials required for activities preferred by children and proceed to procurement process after the request.
  • To ensure that the CCC spaces are clean, secure and appropriate for different activities.
  • Ensure that beneficiaries are duly informed on the Complaint Mechanism and can give their feedback on INTERSOS CCC activities.
  • Establish very good relations with the community members including parents and caregivers.
  • Compile with INTERSOS CP, PSEA and Data protection polices, Cash and case management SOPs.

 

 

 

Job Requirements:

  • Candidates should have a Diploma in Early Childhood Care, preferably a bachelor’s degree in Education, Sociology or Psychology, or other related fields.

 

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 2-3-year experience.
  • Prior experience working with children and in emergency contexts.
  • able to manage a team of 2- 4 people.
  • Must be able to employ positive methods of interaction with children and prevent inappropriate negative discipline or abuse.
  • Prior experience in NGO/INGO.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the area is an added advantage.
  • Experience in working in an insecure environment.
  • Able to build and maintain effective relationships with their team, colleagues, members, and external partners and supporters.
