About Environmental Protection Trainings and Development Organization (EPTDO):

Environmental Protection, Trainings and Development Organization (EPTDO) is a national non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit organization established in 2020. It is officially registered with the Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan under the Afghanistan NGOs Law as a tax-exempt organization. Our work focuses on climate change adaptation and mitigation, environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, sustainable agriculture, gender equality and inclusion, and ecological awareness. We contribute to national and global efforts towards net-zero carbon emissions while strengthening resilience, livelihoods, and sustainable development across Afghanistan.

EPTDO maintains a professional network of over 95 experts, including environmental and climate change specialists, policy makers, lawyers, agricultural development specialists, community organizers, public health experts, and media professionals. This multidisciplinary expertise allows us to design and deliver integrated programmes on climate resilience, environmental safety, and sustainable livelihoods, while ensuring gender-responsive and inclusive approaches.

The EPTDO primary focus areas include climate change adaptation and mitigation, as well as disaster risk reduction (DRR) and Waste Management. Our vision, mission and thematic areas of function are aligning with the core principles of the United Nations, and we are proud to be the only accredited NGO in Afghanistan by the UNFCCC, UNEP, UNCCD, GEF-CSOs Network and the UN established CLIMATE CHARTER. This accreditation allowing us to participate in the United Nations international conference in the world. In our participation, we advocate for the climate actions and we raise awareness of the people about the vulnerability of Afghanistan.

Job Descriptions:

We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Horticulturist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for cultivating, managing, and maintaining plants, landscapes, and gardens to enhance their aesthetic appeal and health. The Horticulturist will apply scientific principles to promote sustainable horticultural practices, conduct research, and provide technical guidance on plant care.

Job Requirements:

  • Develop and implement horticultural strategies for plant cultivation, landscape design, and maintenance.
  • Assess soil and plant health, and recommend appropriate soil amendments, fertilizers, and pest control measures.
  • Plan and oversee planting, pruning, watering, fertilizing, and pest management activities.
  • Conduct research on new plant varieties, cultivation techniques, and sustainable practices.
  • Monitor plant growth and health, diagnosing and treating pests or diseases.
  • Maintain accurate records of horticultural activities, including planting schedules and treatments.
  • Provide technical advice and training to staff, volunteers, or community groups involved in horticultural activities.
  • Coordinate landscape development projects and ensure maintenance aligns with organizational standards.
  • Stay updated on advances in horticultural science and incorporate best practices.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation related to horticultural activities.
  • Any other tasks assigned to him by senior management.
