Humanitarian Assistance Society (HAS) is a non- profit, non-political, and non-governmental organization. It is registered with the Ministry of Economy under license # 5824, HAS works to support the struggle against poverty, hunger, and social injustice. We work in a variety of sectors including health and nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), good governance, capacity building, social justice awareness-raising, advocacy, and human rights promotion and protection. HAS has been helping vulnerable Afghan communities since 2005 through launching different interventions in more than 30 provinces of Afghanistan.
Nutrition Service Delivery
Implement nutrition services including admission, follow-up, and discharge of SAM (Severe Acute Malnutrition) and MAM (Moderate Acute Malnutrition) cases.
Ensure proper implementation of OTP/TSFP services according to national and international guidelines.
Support the Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) program.
Clinical and Technical Tasks
Conduct anthropometric measurements (weight, height, MUAC, edema check).
Prescribe and distribute therapeutic and supplementary foods (RUTF, SNF, MNP).
Administer routine medicines (antibiotics, Vitamin A, deworming, etc.) as per protocol.
Monitor clinical signs and nutritional progress of admitted children.
Counselling and Education
Provide IYCF (Infant and Young Child Feeding) counselling to mothers/caregivers.
Deliver key health, nutrition, and hygiene promotion messages.
Participate in food demonstrations and community awareness activities.
Reporting and Documentation
Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly records of admissions, discharges, and follow-ups.
Document program indicators (admission, discharge, cure rate, defaulter rate, mortality).
Submit accurate and timely reports to the supervisor.
Coordination and Support
Work closely with community volunteers and health workers.
Share information and coordinate with health facility staff.
Support monitoring and evaluation activities.
