About Afghan Family Guidance Association |AFGA:

Afghan Family Guidance Association (AFGA) is an Afghan non-governmental, not-for-profit and non-political organization established in 1968. AFGA has been working in the field of Reproductive health and Rights since its inception and has recently become an associate member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).

AFGA activities were suspended due to war and conflict in the country for ten years (1992-2002) and resumed its activities in 2002 with financial support from International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).

IPPF is an alliance of 151 family planning associations known as Member Associations which has projects in over 180 countries. IPPF continues to be the largest civil society provider of reproductive health information and services in the world

Job Descriptions:

Job Summary:

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for leading and management of the emergency aid project.  He/she will be controlling two Mobile Health Teams for flood affected in target province. Also, He will lead the coordination with Provincial Public Health authorities and other stakeholders at provincial level. He will communicate with national and international stakeholders and will support AFGA on fundraising, by providing data and on drafting concept notes, proposals and Expression of Interests. The field coordinator is senior position and representing AFGA at provincial level, he/she will need to attend sectorial meetings, create and maintain good professional relations with institutions and stakeholders.

Specific Responsibilities:

The Project Coordinator will specifically be responsible for the following:

Duties:

  • Responsible for management of the STREAM 3 flood affect project including planning and implementation of the project activities in line with the agreed quality and timeline.
  • Address contractual and technical programmatic issues and work with functional units to prepare modifications and negotiate changes with the stakeholders or clients.
  • Develop effective working relationships with clients, counterparts, and stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of the project activities.
  • Co-ordinate closely with the project donor to ensure effective contract management.
  • Drive customer satisfaction with on-time delivery, exceptional performance, and 100% accountability.
  • Ensure necessary resources are provided to meet program requirements, directing, controlling, and ensuring procurements are made in accordance with AFGA procurement policies.
  • Monitor the program’s progress against the contract and organizational goals and objectives, and ensure they are consistently and adequately met.
  • Manage day-to-day performance of Mobile Health clinics to ensure quality performance and compliance with contract and organizational requirements.
  • Manage staff performance and lead evaluation, performance discussions, propose increases, etc.
  • Ensure staff receive regular constructive performance feedback, prompt resolution of problems, and time and opportunity to grow.
  • Promote staff development through coaching, mentoring, and facilitating professional growth opportunities.
  • Resolve staffing and resourcing challenges through creative and cost-effective approaches that are within budget.
  • Provide technical, financial, and operational direction and oversee program implementation to ensure on-time delivery of the contract scope of work, and seek opportunities for continual improvement.
  • Support the development of program deliverables and perform high-level reviews and quality control to ensure timely reporting.
  • Conduct supervisory programmatic site visits to ensure the team is on track and the program is meeting the customer’s expectations.
  • Responsible for reporting all the project activities on a weekly, monthly and quarterly, basis and maintaining hard and soft files of projects.

Any other assignments duty might be assigned by the line manager

Job Requirements:

  • Graduated from a well-known medical university with completion of MoPH exit exam (if applicable).
  • Holding a master of public health degree is a plus point.
  • Having at least five years of proven experience with national and international NGOs in the field of health response to humanitarian settings or MHT project implementation.
  • Good knowledge and skills in project management.
  • Fluent Pashto and Dari speaker and good in English speaking.
  • Ability to prepare project-related documents in English.
  • Having previous experience with MHT projects focusing on RMNCAH services.
  • Skill and ability of HMIS formats registration and report extraction.
  • Good communication skills in the area of health services provision.
  • Ability to use KOBO and other online/ offline applications for data entry and reporting.
  • Ability to conduct field visits to the project implementation sites.

Good knowledge of community engagement in health services projects
