Job Descriptions:

General Responsibilities:

The Trainers will provide structured, practical training sessions tailored to participants’ learning needs. They will plan and implement training schedules, prepare lesson plans, monitor trainee progress, and ensure a supportive and safe training environment. Trainers will also mentor participants to pursue employment or small business opportunities after completing the training.

Specific Duties:

  • Prepare a detailed monthly and daily training plan and deliver training accordingly.
  • Deliver comprehensive, hands-on training in Carpet Weaving (قالین بافی)or Ragzah Weaving(رغزه بافی).
  • Introduce participants to the history, cultural value, and economic potential of weaving crafts.
  • Teach proper use, care, and maintenance of weaving tools, looms, and related equipment.
  • Make a list of required materials and tools for the training program and ensure their proper use.
  • Continuously monitor and assess trainee progress through practical evaluations.
  • Provide weekly training progress reports to the project team.
  • Foster creativity, patience, and attention to detail to ensure production of marketable, high-quality items.
  • Guide participants in producing woven items suitable for market linkage, exhibitions, and income generation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe training environment.
  • Develop and update lesson plans, training materials, and attendance records.
  • Actively participate in project meetings, coordination sessions, and related activities.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the line manager.

Job Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of high school diploma; formal training in weaving or related crafts preferred.
  • At least 2-3 years of practical experience in Carpet Weaving or Ragzah Weaving.
  • Prior experience as a vocational trainer or mentor is highly desirable.

Other Skills

  • Strong knowledge of weaving techniques, tools, and materials.
  • Patience, creativity, and strong teaching/communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare training plans and reports.
  • Ability to mentor both literate and low-literacy participants.
  • Basic record-keeping and reporting skills.
  • Fluency in Dari and Pashto; English is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity.
