About ACDO:

Asia Community Development Organization (ACDO) is an Afghan non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit humanitarian organization established in 2014 and registered with the Government of Afghanistan under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy (MoEc) with a mission to provide humanitarian and development assistance to the vulnerable, at-risk, and underserved people throughout the country.

ACDO responds to the needs of deprived and marginalized rural and urban communities by managing and utilizing the available scarce resources in a well-organized, efficient, effective, transparent, and dignified manner to enhance resilience, boost access to education, health services, and infrastructure, ensure food and livelihood security, and promote social protection and inclusion.

ACDO has an active presence in most parts of the country and intends to expand its operations to the remaining provinces, as to transform itself into a leading and developed organization that will deliver to and support large number of people who have been affected by the long-protracted and sudden on-set emergencies and regardless of the hardest circumstances that exist in Afghanistan, ACDO has managed to deliver humanitarian and development assistance in most part of country.

Job Descriptions:

Service Information and Guidance:

  • Provide clear, accurate, and timely information to beneficiaries on available services (health, protection, education, MHPSS, etc.).
  • Respond to general inquiries and guide individuals to the appropriate service points or personnel.

Referral Support:

  • Facilitate safe and appropriate referrals of children and caregivers to internal and external service providers.
  • Ensure referral pathways are up to date and referrals are tracked in line with data protection protocols.

Accountability and Feedback:

  • Receive and document feedback, concerns, and complaints from beneficiaries confidentially and respectfully.
  • Support the implementation of the project’s accountability mechanisms by ensuring issues are referred to relevant staff and followed up appropriately.
  • Maintain records of complaints and feedback while protecting client identities and sensitive information.

Community Engagement

  • Promote awareness about the Help Desk's role and services among the target population.
  • Support outreach efforts to ensure marginalized and at-risk individuals are aware of and can access available services.

Reporting and Coordination

  • Submit regular updates and summary reports on help desk activities, including common concerns and trends.
  • Coordinate closely with case management, protection, and other relevant teams to ensure smooth service delivery and referral follow-up.

Deliverables

  • Comprehensive protection program plans and curricula.
  • Regular progress reports and documentation.
  • Recommendations for program improvements.

Reporting and Documentation:

    • Prepare regular reports on program activities, progress, and outcomes.
    • Preparation of narrative reports, ensuring timely submission to donors, relevant stakeholders.
    • Document best practices, lessons learned, and case studies.
    • Ensure accurate and timely data collection and reporting.

Any other task assigned by the line manager/ SMT

Job Requirements:

Essential:

  • Advanced degree in Social Science, Management, Psychology, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in protection program design, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Strong knowledge of Child Protection & Safeguarding.
  • Proven experience in capacity building and training.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in Case Management, Child Protection, Community engagement, and technical support.
  • Familiarity with Child Protection Principles, Standards, Case Management, Local Context, and Dynamics.
  • Proficiency in English.

Reporting Line

The Protection Officer will report directly to the Project Manager and work closely with other members of the provincial team and relevant stakeholders.

Skills:

  • Ability to cope well under pressure, work irregular hours, and meet tight deadlines
  • Sound organizational skills and ability to prioritize and deliver assignments in a timely manner, often under severe time pressures

  • Good knowledge of the Child education system in Afghanistan
  • Coordination skills with government officials, local elected bodies, NGO’s, project experts, and concerned community members

Language skills:

  • Fluent oral and written skills in English;
  • Fluent in Pashto/Dari
