Job Description


The IMNCI (Integrated Management of Newborn and Childhood Illness) Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the effective implementation and quality assurance of IMNCI services at health facilities. This role involves providing supportive supervision, mentoring of healthcare providers, monitoring performance, ensuring availability of supplies, and promoting adherence to national IMNCI protocols and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
    •    Conduct regular field visits to health facilities to supervise IMNCI service delivery.
    •    Provide on-site coaching and mentoring to health workers (nurses, midwives, doctors) on IMNCI case management.
    •    Ensure proper use of IMNCI charts, protocols, and job aids.
    •    Monitor correct classification and treatment of childhood illnesses (e.g., pneumonia, diarrhea, malaria, malnutrition).
    •    Review and verify IMNCI records, registers, and reports for accuracy and completeness.
    •    Ensure availability of essential IMNCI drugs, equipment, and materials at health facilities.
    •    Support training activities and refresher courses on IMNCI as required.
    •    Coordinate with relevant stakeholders and facility managers to solve identified problems.
    •    Collect and submit supervisory reports, including key findings, recommendations, and follow-up actions.
    •    Participate in health cluster meetings and provide technical input on child health programming.

Conduct role plays and skilled base trainings.

Ensure functionality and utilization of ICU, NICUs where applicable.
 

Job Requirements


    •    Medical Doctor (MD), Nurse, or Midwife with strong clinical background.
    •    At least 3 years of experience at the same position.
    •    Previous experience in IMNCI implementation or supervision preferred.
    •    In-depth knowledge of national IMNCI guidelines and child health protocols.
    •    Strong coaching, supervision, and training skills.
    •    Excellent communication and reporting abilities.
    •    Willingness to travel regularly to field locations.
    •    Computer literacy (MS Office and data entry tools).
