OHW is operating since 2007 in the country with active membership with the national clusters and international donor agencies in Afghanistan including SWABAC, ACBAR, AICS, BAAG, AWN and most of the national and international Clusters operates based in Afghanistan.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  •   Responsible for the overall case management of IPD SAM cases in TFU.
  • Doing the food demonstration on regular basis.
  • Admission of eligible children in inpatient treatment of server acute malnutrition
  • Checking the appetite of children for the ready to use therapeutic food
  • Daily follow up of children in weight gaining and complication in inpatient
  • Regular follow up of sever acute malnourished children in inpatient
  • Preparing the F100 and F75 milks and feeding of the children regularly
  • Transferring children from stabilization phase to transitional and rehabilitation phases according to criteria and health conditions
  • Provides direct nursing care to patients including dressing, Catheterization, vital signs, and medications in therapeutic food unit
  • Ensure comprehensive health checks and treatment according to the protocols to nutrition cases detected
  • Involvement of mother in the care
  • Improvement of health maternal nutrition education through the counseling and education sessions.
  • Psychosocial support of mother or caregivers for supporting them breastfeeding and care giving.
  • Implementation of alternative therapeutic milks when shortages and stock out happen
  • Assessment of children anthropometry on regular basis on both inpatients and out patients
  • Filling the TSS, MSS, treatment sheets while feeding and checking the health condition of malnourished children
  • In coordination with the medical doctors, Pediatrics and Medical Unit, ensure adequate availability of all food supplies in hospital.
  • Work closely with the medical doctors and pediatrics in the planning and organizing TFU, OPD SAM/SFP services in hospital
  • Preparing the monthly report of IPD SAM.
  • Updating the internal stock cards
  • Provide service as night duty nurse
  • Arrangement of health education sessions and counselling for each caregiver
  • Report on progress and any problems in a timely manner-
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by line supervisors for the quality of the activities

Job Requirements

  •  Nursing/ Midwifery certificate is required.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant work experience. Experience in CMAM is an advantage.
  • Uzbic , Dari skills are required; English is preferable.
  • Work experience in Health as emergency response projects is preferable.
  • Received  IMAM, HMIS  and MIYCN or IYCF Trainings.
  • Previous experience working for an international NGO is preferable.
  • Commitment to OHW S principles.
  • Comply with all relevant OHW policies and procedures.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to effectively present information and respond appropriately to questions from supervisor in the field.

Ability and willingness to travel and stay overnight at service delivery point.
