Job Descriptions:

1. Background
IPS project aims to enhance the safety, well-being, and development of children and adolescents in the provinces of Herat, Badghis, and Farah through improved access to protection services, community-based child protection structures, and empowerment initiatives. WASSA, as a national partner, collaborates with WCUK to implement this initiative, focusing on child protection, gender equality, disability inclusion, and community resilience.
The Project Coordinator/Regional Project Manager will oversee the planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities to ensure quality delivery, accountability, and alignment with project objectives and donor requirements.


2. Scope of Work
The Project Coordinator/Regional Project Manager is responsible for the overall management and implementation of the IPS project, ensuring timely delivery of activities and achievement of results. The role requires technical expertise, leadership, and coordination across multiple sectors and stakeholders, with a focus on child protection, gender sensitivity, disability inclusion, and community engagement.

A. Project Management

  1. Lead the planning, coordination, and implementation of project activities across Herat, Badghis, and Farah provinces.
  2. Develop detailed work plans, schedules, and budgets in line with the project’s objectives and donor requirements.
  3. Monitor progress, identify challenges, and propose solutions to ensure smooth implementation.
  4. Ensure integration of cross-cutting themes (gender equality, disability inclusion, and safeguarding) in all activities.

B. Technical Oversight

  1. Oversee the establishment of inclusive community protection centers.
  2. Supervise the delivery of services such as case management, PSS, and cash-for-protection.
  3. Supervise training on child protection, gender, and inclusion for community members.
  4. Ensure the quality and relevance of positive parenting sessions and family support initiatives.

C. Stakeholder Coordination

  1. Maintain effective communication with donors, implementing partners, and local authorities.
  2. Represent WASSA in coordination clusters.
  3. Coordinate with local organizations and service providers to strengthen referral mechanisms.

D. Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL)

  1. Collaborate with the MEAL team to monitor and evaluate project activities.
  2. Utilize community feedback mechanisms to refine interventions and ensure inclusivity.
  3. Maintain project documentation, including activity reports, case studies, and success stories.

E. Capacity Building and Team Management

  1. Supervise and mentor project staff, ensuring clarity in roles and responsibilities.
  2. Facilitate capacity-building sessions for team members to enhance technical and operational skills.
  3. Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.

F. Compliance and Reporting

  1. Ensure adherence to WASSA’s policies, including PSEA and safeguarding.
  2. Prepare and submit high-quality narrative reports to donors and management.

 

Job Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Management, and Social Sciences, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in project coordination or management, preferably in protection or humanitarian contexts.
  • Strong technical knowledge of child protection, gender equality, and disability inclusion.
  • Proven experience in managing multi-sectoral projects, including budget management and donor reporting.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in English and local languages (Dari and/or Pashto).
  • Proficiency in MS Office and project management tools.
