Summary of the job:

The responsibility of the midwife will be to attend the normal delivery and perform all the duties of IPD and OPD.

Responsibilities

  • Provide prenatal care to mothers, including conducting routine checkups, ordering and interpreting lab tests, and monitoring the health and development of the fetus with consultation of the gynecologist.  
  • Provide normal deliveries and provision of family guidance services to the patients who come to the hospital.
  • Follow up of services to patients such as vital signs and follow up of order of doctor and dressing of the patients.
  • Provide postpartum care, including monitoring the mother's recovery, providing breastfeeding support, and assessing the health of the newborn.
  • Identify and respond to any complications or high-risk situations during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum, and work collaboratively with obstetricians when needed.
  • Educate and counsel patients on pregnancy, childbirth, newborn care, family planning, and other women's health topics.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate medical records for all patients according to HMIS tools.
  • Collaborate with the broader healthcare team, including nurses, pediatricians, and social workers, to coordinate comprehensive care.
  • Potentially perform some outpatient procedures like cervical exams and collecting lab specimens.
  • Collection of data and information of patients in IPD and OPD who are under the follow up
  • Active participation for planning of capacity building in hospital
  • Perform night duty according to the night duty schedule
  • Obey all rules and disciplines of hospital
  • Participate in the morning reports
  • Perform all other official duties given by the hospital
  • Participate in implementation of all standards especially in gynecology
  • Participate in evaluation of all standards and prepare action plan for improvement of the standards
  • Responsible for registering of clients
  • Respect all rules and regulations of the AFGA and adhere safeguarding policy
  • She will report to nursing manager

Job Requirements:

  • Graduated from recognized midwifery institute
  • Should have 3-5 years of working experience as a practicing midwife, providing care during antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn periods
  • Experience of working in a hospital or clinic setting is preferred
  • Able to work in night shift according to the schedule.
  • Should receive the (BEmNOC, CmNOC, NBC, HMIS, IP, FP, PAC) trainings.
  • Having effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • To be kind and honest
  • Ability to work in a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
