Bakhter Development Network (BDN) was established and officially registered in Afghanistan in 2001 as an Afghan non-governmental, non-profit, non-political, and developmental organization. BDN operates in accordance with its constitution in three main thematic areas: health, education, and agriculture and livestock. With its current focus on public health and nutrition, BDN helps communities achieve their developmental goals, while its wider vision is a world of enabled communities working towards a brighter future.

Presently, BDN is actively involved in various initiatives, including the Health Emergency Response Additional Financing (HER AF) undertaking in Balkh and Maidan Wardak Provinces. Additionally, the organization is executing projects such as the Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP), AFIAT, and GC 7 in the Balkh Provinces.

Job Descriptions:

The MCH Supervisor is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and reporting all MCH activities of the project. The MCH Supervisor reports to the MCH Officer.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the MCH Officer in preparing and implementing the annual MCH work plan for the project.
  • Provide the staff with up-to-date MCH-related information, guidelines, procedures manuals, databases, and forms.
  • Takes part in planning and implementing MCH-related training.
  • Collect and compile MCH data from provincial offices.
  • Assist the MCH Officer with the analysis and interpretation of the MCH information.
  • Assist the MCH Officer
  • in providing timely, specific, and relevant feedback to the staff on the data and/or information provided.
  • Plans and conducts supervisory visits to the projects and provides the projects with supervision reports/feedback.
  • Assist the MCH Officer in preparing MCH reports on the project.
  • Provide up-to-date, relevant, and timely information to the program staff for the purpose of planning, implementing, and monitoring the program activities.
  • Assist the MCH Officer in establishing and maintaining a good cooperation/coordination mechanism with the concerned department(s) at the Provincial Public Health Directorate and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Assigned by the MCH Officer, the MCH Supervisor represents the organization in MCH-related forums, workshops, meetings, etc.

Job Requirements:

  • Medical Doctor Degree or Midwifery Education Degree.
  • 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Having knowledge of BPHS/EPHS is an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English & Local Languages.
  • Knowledge of computer Word, excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interest in the development of health status in the community.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and code of conduct.
  • Interest and ability to travel extensively in the field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office package, specifically in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Local staff will be preferred.
