Background:

The Afghanistan Peace Builders Humanitarian Organization (APBHO) is implementing the Enhancing Environmental Sustainability and Disaster Resilience in Sar-e-Pul Province through Tree Planting and Gravity-Fed Watershed Management project, aimed to enhance environmental sustainability and disaster resilience in Sar-e-Pul Province through pistachio saplings planting, soil erosion control, and gravity-fed watershed management.

To ensure the successful implementation of the agriculture and forestation components, APBHO seeks to hire an experienced and dedicated Technical Supervisor/Trainer (Agriculture Specialist).

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and specialized expertise and guidance in agriculture, specifically in pistachio tree planting, agroforestry, and sustainable land management practices.
  • Supervise and coordinate field activities related to soil erosion control, water retention, and watershed management.
  • Conduct training sessions for community members on tree planting techniques, pest control, and sustainable agricultural practices.
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders and community leaders to ensure effective project implementation and community engagement.
  • Monitor project activities, evaluate progress, and provide regular reports to project management.
  • Support the establishment and capacity building of community-based committees involved in project activities.
  • Familiarize oneself thoroughly with APBHO's policies, including Child Protection and Child Safeguarding Policy, accountability, Anti-fraud and anti-corruption policy, Diversity, Code of Conduct, Data protection, Safeguarding, and PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) policies.
  • Collaborate with project teams, partners, and beneficiaries to ensure effective communication and coordination of activities.
  •  Stay updated with the latest agricultural techniques, technologies, and trends, and incorporate them into training materials and sessions.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field; a Master's degree is desirable.

- A minimum of 3 years of experience in agricultural extension, technical training, and capacity building, preferably in rural or community development projects.

  • Strong knowledge of agroforestation, agriculture, livelihood, value chain development, and marketing strategies.
  • Proven experience in conducting training sessions, preferably using IEC materials.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in diverse cultural settings.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English, Pashto, Dari, and Uzbaki languages.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with the agricultural context and challenges in Afghanistan is a plus.
