Women Activities & Social Service Association (WASSA) was established in 2002 in Afghanistan, as a non-governmental organization, committed to seeking ways for women empowerment in Afghanistan. WASSA aims to promote women's equal participation in the socio-economic sectors of the country. WASSA works directly with communities in order to bring change in the social attitude of the community regarding women.

Job Descriptions:

OBJECTIVES:

Community mobilizers will enhance the capacity of communities to discuss and address the most important issues in their community, such as Familial violence, Violence against women, Buying and selling children, sales of organs, conflict resolution, citizens' support documents, children's beatings by teachers and mullahs of mosques, complaints about school curriculum, child protection, women rights, human rights, underage marriages, marriage age of girls, investigating the reasons and causes of divorce, non-payment of alimony, forced marriages. (Even though some issues are sensitive and serious among local people like violence against women, marriage age of girls & causes of divorce.)

JOB DESCRIPTIONS:

Under the overall supervision of the Project Manager, the facilitator will work on the following tasks to coordinate the implementation of the project in project sites.

  • Assist in the implementation of the community mobilization strategy in a manner that promotes gender equality, and democratic decision-making and is all-inclusive.
  • Conduct, facilitate, and manage community dialogue, FGD, awareness raising, community mobilization, and documentation.
  • Participate in the design of the Project community mobilization strategy and come up with a workable implementation plan within the Project time frame and WASSA policies.
  • Identify target communities and mobilize community male/female groups.
  • Conduct, manage, and facilitate community dialogue, FGD, and awareness raising to targeted communities.
  • Prepare and conduct training and learning tools/materials for communities and/or other trainers.
  • projects according to the guidelines and schedules set by the WASSA community mobilization strategy.
  • Coordinate effectively with government representatives, including, DoRR, DoPH and provincial and district leaders.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community groups ‘progress and make recommendations for improvements;
  • Promote and adhere to the principles and objectives of WASSA;
  • Engage women in community participation in a way that promotes gender equality respects the local environment and adapts to the western Afghanistan cultural values.
  • Adhere to all WASSA administrative procedures and policies;
  • Adhere to all WASS and security policies;
  • Assist with general program operations and field-based activity;
  • Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to WASSA and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission in Afghanistan.
  • Other duties as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • He/she is responsible to Report regularly on project activities and update the progress of project implementation to PM.
  • Focuses on impact and result for the client
  • Approaches work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude
  • Builds strong relationships with clients and external actors
  • Demonstrates openness to change and ability to manage complexities

  • Should be familiar with the area’s culture, traditions, and sensitivities.
  • Experience in working with and coordinating with NGOs and other stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal, intercultural, and communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to improving others’ good governance opportunities, and engaging with rural communities and marginalized urban households.
  • Able to provide clear and brief written reports
