Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance (CHA) is a non-governmental, non-profitable, and non-political Afghan NGO, working since 1987 mainly in agriculture, health, education, and infrastructure sectors in more vulnerable areas of the country. CHA is working through the implementation of Emergency, rehabilitation, and development projects for emergency aid for war, famine, and natural disaster-affected families in the field, to assist with the rehabilitation of rural and urban life, and to work with communities for sustainable development in Afghanistan.

Job Description

Conduct market research to identify customer preferences, market trends, prices, competitors, and potential buyers. Develop and implement marketing strategies for livelihood products, particularly carpets, silk products, handicrafts, and other project-supported products. Establish and maintain relationships with wholesalers, retailers, traders, private-sector companies, and potential buyers. Support beneficiaries in product presentation, branding, packaging, pricing, and promotion. Identify local, national, and potential regional market opportunities. Facilitate business-to-business (B2B) meetings, exhibitions, trade fairs, and promotional events. Develop product profiles, catalogues, promotional materials, and other marketing content. Support beneficiaries to understand customer requirements and market standards. Monitor market prices, demand, and trends and provide regular recommendations to the project team. Coordinate closely with technical specialists and the Business Development team to ensure products meet market demand and quality standards. Maintain a database of buyers, traders, suppliers, and other relevant market actors. Prepare regular marketing and market-linkage reports and document success stories. Conduct regular field visits and provide practical marketing support to beneficiaries. Perform other relevant duties assigned by the organization.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Economics, Commerce (Master’s degree strongly preferred) Minimum 3–5 years of relevant practical experience in marketing, market linkage, business development, sales, or value-chain development. Candidates with strong practical marketing experience, established market networks, and proven skills in promoting and selling livelihood products will be given preference. Practical experience in market assessment, buyer identification, product promotion, pricing, branding, and sales. Experience working with carpets, silk, handicrafts, agricultural products, or other livelihood products is highly desirable. Experience with NGO/INGO or donor-funded livelihood projects is an advantage. Strong knowledge of local and regional markets in Herat and the Western Region is highly desirable. Excellent communication, negotiation, networking, and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills. Good computer skills, particularly MS Office and Excel. Willingness and ability to travel frequently to project locations and provinces. Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto, and English languages.
