Main duty and Responsibility
Women's Agriculture and Livelihood Development:
- Prepare detailed weekly, monthly, and quarterly work plans for women's livelihood and agriculture activities in coordination with the Programme Manager.
- Ensure that all field plans are aligned with project objectives, implementation schedules, and women's economic empowerment goals.
- Lead and coordinate the implementation of women-focused agriculture, livestock, livelihood, and resilience activities at the community level.
- Ensure effective collaboration between technical staff, female community mobilizers, women's groups, and relevant stakeholders.
- Identify human, material, and financial resource requirements for women's livelihood interventions and coordinate their timely provision.
- Monitor the efficient utilization of project resources and report any gaps, challenges, or delays to the Programme Manager.
- Coordinate with local authorities, community leaders, Women's Shuras, Community-Based Disaster Management Committees (CBDMCs), Watershed Management Committees (WMCs), and other stakeholders to ensure inclusive participation of women in project activities.
- Facilitate community consultations, planning meetings, and awareness sessions with women beneficiaries and community representatives.
- Identify risks and barriers affecting women's participation and develop mitigation measures to promote safe and meaningful engagement.
- Adapt implementation plans based on community feedback, field realities, and emerging needs of women beneficiaries.
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements, organizational policies, safeguarding standards, gender equality principles, and accountability mechanisms.
- Maintain accurate records of planning, implementation progress, beneficiary participation, and lessons learned.
- Provide regular updates and progress reports to the Programme Manager on achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
Women's Producer Groups, Market Systems, and Enterprise Development:
- Establish and strengthen Women's Livestock Owner Groups, Women Farmer Producer Groups, Savings and Self-Help Groups, and Women's Enterprise Groups.
- Facilitate the formation and capacity development of women's producer associations and federations at district and provincial levels, where applicable.
- Build the capacity of women producers and entrepreneurs in collective marketing, business management, leadership, negotiation, and market engagement.
- Support women's groups and federations in developing sustainable business models and providing services to their members.
- Conduct awareness and training sessions for women on market demand, supply chains, pricing mechanisms, and market opportunities related to agriculture, livestock, dairy, handicrafts, and other livelihood products.
- Facilitate market linkages between women producers and local, national, and private-sector buyers to improve access to profitable markets.
- Support the establishment and management of women-friendly post-harvest handling, storage, and processing facilities to reduce losses and increase income.
- Provide training and technical support on value addition activities, including fruit and vegetable processing and preservation, dairy processing, kitchen gardening, poultry production, beekeeping, handicrafts, and other women-led income-generating enterprises.
- Promote financial literacy, savings practices, and access to microenterprise and business development opportunities for women.
- Support women entrepreneurs in developing business plans and accessing relevant support services, markets, and livelihood opportunities.
- Document success stories, lessons learned, and best practices related to women's economic empowerment and enterprise development.
Financial Literacy, Nutrition, and Household Resilience:
- Conduct financial literacy, household budgeting, savings, and small business management training for women farmers, women livestock owners, and women's producer groups.
- Promote awareness of nutrition-sensitive agriculture, balanced diets, maternal and child nutrition, household hygiene, and safe water treatment practices.
- Support women-led livelihood diversification initiatives and household-level income-generating activities.
- Facilitate training on savings groups, income management, and financial decision-making to strengthen women's economic resilience.
- Promote climate-resilient household livelihood practices that enhance food security and income stability.
- Support women beneficiaries in developing practical livelihood action plans to improve household well-being and resilience.
Natural Resource Management (NRM) and Climate Resilience:
- Build the capacity of women beneficiaries and relevant community groups on sustainable natural resource management practices, including soil conservation, water management, climate-smart agriculture, and efficient use of natural resources.
- Promote women's participation and representation in Water Management Committees (WMCs) and other community-level resource management structures.
- Facilitate community discussions on equitable access to natural resources and women's involvement in local decision-making processes.
- Support women and community groups in monitoring and protecting natural resources through participatory approaches.
- Assist in implementing small-scale water management, climate adaptation, and resilience-building initiatives that benefit women farmers and their households.
- Conduct participatory assessments to identify community priorities related to water management, environmental protection, and climate resilience.
- Promote practices that improve water availability, soil fertility, and sustainable agricultural production for women beneficiaries.
Gender, Social Inclusion, and Community Engagement:
- Identify, mentor, and build the capacity of female community facilitators, lead farmers, and women community leaders.
- Establish, strengthen, and support Women's Self-Help Groups, Savings Groups, Producer Groups, and other women-led community structures.
- Facilitate awareness sessions with religious leaders, community elders, and local authorities to encourage women's participation in livelihood and economic activities.
- Promote the inclusion of vulnerable women, female-headed households, returnees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and persons with disabilities in project activities.
- Organize focus group discussions, community consultations, and learning events to ensure women's voices and priorities are reflected in project implementation.
- Advocate for equitable participation, decision-making, and access to opportunities for women across all project interventions.
- Support safeguarding, protection, and accountability mechanisms to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for women participants.
Coordination, Monitoring, and Reporting:
- Coordinate closely with local authorities, community institutions, women's groups, service providers, private-sector actors, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records of training, beneficiaries, group activities, livelihood interventions, and distributed inputs.
- Support monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) activities, including data collection, beneficiary tracking, and outcome monitoring.
- Collect and document success stories, lessons learned, best practices, and case studies highlighting women's empowerment and livelihood achievements.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc progress reports as required by the Programme Manager.
- Ensure all activities are implemented in line with project plans, donor requirements, organizational policies, safeguarding standards, and gender equality principles.
- Monitor the quality and effectiveness of project interventions and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Represent the project in coordination meetings, community consultations, and relevant stakeholder engagements when required.
- Support the Programme Manager in planning, implementation, reporting, and achieving project targets related to women's economic empowerment and resilience.
Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS):
- The concern is committed to CHS to ensure downward accountability. CHS standards guide Concern activities in all stages both emergency and development projects /programs. In Afghanistan, we also bounded our activities by Accountability framework and therefore any Afghanistan employees is responsible to comply with CHS principles and benchmarks as instructed by its policies and therefore make sure that all accept and implement CHS standards in all our activities.
- To give full support in relation to emergencies/ humanitarian operations when occurring in any area that Concern Afghanistan will respond. This can include but is not limited to participation in the Concern Afghanistan Rapid Deployment Unit (CARDU) and deployment on emergency response teams
