Job Description

Job Summary

The Agriculture Assistant will support the implementation of climate-resilient agricultural livelihood activities to improve wheat production and household food security among returnee and vulnerable host communities in Baghlan-e-Jadid (Baghlan), Chardara and Dashti Archi (Kunduz). The position will assist in beneficiary targeting, distribution of agricultural inputs, farmer training, extension services, data collection, and reporting. 

Mobilize and engage communities by coordinating with local authorities, MAIL, community leaders, and stakeholders to ensure transparent, accountable, and inclusive project implementation. 
2. Support beneficiary identification, registration, verification, and database management in line with approved vulnerability criteria and CARE data protection standards. 
3. Conduct baseline surveys, household and agricultural assessments, and support MEAL activities by collecting accurate field data for monitoring and evaluation. 
4. Facilitate the formation and strengthening of farmer groups, promote community participation, and encourage the inclusion of women and vulnerable groups in agricultural activities. 

    5. Support the planning, supervision, and documentation of agricultural input distributions, ensuring compliance with accountability, safety, and donor requirements. 
6. Deliver farmer training and field demonstrations on climate-smart agriculture, improved wheat production, integrated crop management, soil fertility, pest management, post-harvest practices, and environmental protection. 
7. Monitor the utilization of agricultural inputs, adoption of improved farming practices, productivity, food security outcomes, and beneficiary satisfaction, while preparing regular reports and documenting lessons learned. 
8. Coordinate closely with Agriculture Officers, Community Mobilizers, MEAL teams, and local stakeholders to ensure quality implementation, compliance with CARE and donor requirements, and support monitoring and coordination missions.

Any task assigned by project supervisor and FSL program coordinator as per capacity and availability of the staff.

Job Requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Extension, Crop Science, or a related discipline. 
2. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in agricultural livelihoods, humanitarian, or rural development projects. 
3. Experience working with wheat production, climate-smart agriculture, and farmer field schools is preferred. 

Above 5 years of relevant experience in agricultural livelihoods, humanitarian, or rural development projects. 

1. Knowledge of wheat production systems. 
2. Knowledge of climate-smart agriculture. 
3. Agricultural extension and farmer training skills. 
4. Experience in beneficiary targeting and community mobilization. 
5. Data collection and reporting skills. 
6. Familiarity with Kobo Collect or other digital data collection tools. 
7. Strong understanding of gender-sensitive agricultural programming. 
8. Knowledge of MAIL agricultural standards is desirable.
