In-Person and Remote Opportunities

Join Our Volunteer Team

DWSSO is inviting motivated, responsible, and community-minded individuals to join its growing volunteer team. Both in-person and remote volunteering opportunities are available.

This opportunity is suitable for school graduates, university students, recent graduates, early-career professionals, and experienced individuals who are interested in learning, teamwork, humanitarian and development work, and creating a positive impact in Afghan communities.

Volunteer Areas

Applicants may express interest in one or more of the following areas:

·       Programme and project development

·       Proposal and report writing

·       Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning

·       Research, assessments, and data collection

·       Communications, social media, and content development

·       Graphic design, photography, and video editing

·       Website development and digital support

·       Finance, administration, and documentation

·       Human resources and staff capacity development

·       Agriculture, livelihoods, and environmental activities

·       Education, training, and community mobilization

·       protection, and inclusion

·       Fundraising, partnership development, and donor research

Volunteer assignments will be determined according to the applicant’s education, skills, interests, availability, and DWSSO’s organizational needs.

What Volunteers Will Gain

Selected volunteers will have the opportunity to:

·       Gain practical experience in NGO and community development work

·       Learn from experienced programme and support staff

·       Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and organizational activities

·       Strengthen professional, communication, research, and teamwork skills

·       Contribute ideas to real projects and community initiatives

·       Build professional networks and references

·       Receive a volunteer experience certificate upon satisfactory completion

·       Be considered for future key employment positions/opportunities when vacancies become available

·       Direct hiring of those volunteers for key positions within newly awarded projects.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants should:

  •          Be a high school graduate, current university student, or university graduate.

·       Be committed, respectful, responsible, and willing to learn

·       Have an interest in humanitarian, development, or community service

·       Be able to work independently and as part of a diverse team

·       Demonstrate good communication and time-management skills

·       Respect confidentiality, safeguarding, and organizational policies

·       Have sound computer skills for remote and office-based assignments

Previous professional experience is an advantage but is not mandatory. Commitment, positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn are among the most important selection criteria.

In-Person Volunteering

In-person volunteers may support DWSSO’s office, project, training, documentation, community engagement, or field-related activities, depending on organizational needs and operational access.

Applicants should indicate the province and location where they are available to volunteer.

Remote Volunteering

Remote volunteers may support proposal development, research, communications, graphic design, data management, online training, website content, donor mapping, report editing, documentation, and other digital assignments.

Remote volunteers must be able to communicate regularly with their assigned supervisor and complete agreed tasks within the required deadlines.

Expected Commitment

Volunteers are expected to:

·       Follow an agreed workplan and schedule

·       Attend orientation and relevant meetings

·       Communicate regularly with their supervisor

·       Complete assigned tasks responsibly and on time

·       Maintain professional conduct and confidentiality

·       Respect DWSSO’s Code of Conduct, safeguarding, PSEA, and Do No Harm principles
