About Afghanistan Development & Assistance Organization (ADAO)

Afghanistan Development & Assistance Organization (ADAO) is a national NGO registered under the Ministry of Economy which is established 17 years ago (founded in 2006) by a group of young and professional Afghans to work on the development of Agriculture, sustainable livelihoods opportunities to support most vulnerable communities both urban and rural areas consequently will have access to better education, primary health care, good governance, and eventually improved sustainable community development in Afghanistan.

Job Description

The Gender Officer is responsible for promoting gender equality and ensuring gender mainstreaming across all project activities. She supports the integration of gender perspectives into program design, implementation, and monitoring, and works to enhance women’s participation and empowerment within project interventions. The position also contributes to awareness-raising initiatives and capacity building on gender-related issues within the organization and target communities.

Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Development Studies, Sociology, or a related field.
  2. At least 2–3 years of relevant experience in gender, protection, or community development, preferably in an NGO environment.
  3. Strong understanding of gender equality, women empowerment, and protection principles.
  4. Good report writing and communication skills.
  5. Ability to work with communities and conduct awareness sessions.
  6. Good coordination and teamwork skills.
  7. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  8. Ability to work under pressure and in field conditions.
