People in Need’s Afghanistan country program started in November 2001, providing emergency food distribution in mountainous areas of the central highlands. 20 years later, the program has visibly grown and diversified but continues to promote PIN’s core values: envisioning a world where people are free to make decisions about their lives; a world where people are not restricted by an un-free society, poverty, lack of education or discrimination. Today, we work along the humanitarian and development spectrum, providing immediate aid and supporting the most vulnerable in Afghanistan to find long-term solutions to the challenges they face.

2. Background:

PIN Afghanistan’s three strategic objectives for the current planning period are (1) Agency-driven, transformative, humanitarian assistance; (2) Making markets work for crisis-affected and marginalized communities; and, (3) Harnessing decent, productive, and inclusive livelihoods. Under the current evolving context, the CP is focusing efforts under strategic priority 1 and in particular, supporting people to have (1) enough to eat, (2) a safe and secure living space that supports their health and well-being, (3) the basic items needed to stay safe and warm, and (4) access to education when the normal structures are no longer available to them.

Under the overall supervision of the logistics coordinator, prepare lunch meals for national staff according to hygiene standards in order to ensure their nutritional needs. And types and purpose of tools and materials necessary for manual cleaning, disinfection, primary collection, sorting and transfer of solid waste materials/goods (garbage), and heating. The key results have an impact on the overall project efficiency and success in the implementation of the project.

Kitchen Management & Cooking Duties:

1. Prepare meals based on a pre-established menu, ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are strictly followed.
2. Maintain high standards of cooking quality, presentation, and timely service.
3. Keep the kitchen clean and organized, including utensils, appliances, and surfaces.
4. Ensure all kitchen equipment is sanitized and in good working condition.
5. Monitor and manage kitchen supplies, including reporting shortages or restocking needs.
6. Communicate with staff regarding meal schedules and special dietary needs.
7. Handle multiple cooking tasks and orders efficiently and productively.

Heating System (Bukhari) Management:

8. Operate and maintain coal-fired Bukharis safely and effectively.
9. Ensure timely provision of coal and proper ignition of Bukharis.
10. Monitor and manage coal stock levels, reporting when replenishment is needed.
11. Ensure safe disposal of ash and cleaning of Bukhari units regularly.

Office & Facility Cleaning:

12. Clean and sanitize office spaces, including meeting halls, furniture, doors, windows, and equipment.
13. Maintain cleanliness of office yards and gardens; remove trash and dispose of it in designated areas.
14. Ensure meeting halls are organized and equipped with necessary supplies.
15. Wash curtains and ensure cleanliness of water filters and bottles.
16. Ensure availability of cleaning materials, especially for toilets and common areas.
17. Provide clean drinking water throughout the day and before staff departure.

Support & Maintenance:

18. Report any maintenance or repair needs for office assets and infrastructure.
19. Assist in moving office furniture or equipment as instructed by the supervisor.
20. Perform any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.
