Job Description

The Midwife is responsible for delivering quality maternal, newborn, and reproductive health services in accordance with BPHS-SAFE standards, Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) guidelines, and MHCO policies and procedures. The incumbent will ensure safe motherhood practices and contribute to reducing maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality in the catchment area of Nukarkhil BHC.

Duties and Reponsiblity:

·       Provide comprehensive Antenatal Care (ANC) services, including history taking, physical examinations, counseling, and identification of high-risk pregnancies.

·       Conduct safe and clean normal deliveries and provide Essential Newborn Care (ENC).

·       Provide Postnatal Care (PNC) services to mothers and newborns according to national protocols.

·       Identify, stabilize, and refer obstetric and neonatal complications in a timely manner.

·       Promote and support early initiation and exclusive breastfeeding practices.

·       Provide family planning counseling and services in accordance with national guidelines.

·       Ensure compliance with BPHS standards, MoPH protocols, and MHCO clinical guidelines.

·       Implement infection prevention and control measures in all service delivery areas.

·       Ensure proper use, maintenance, and accountability of medical equipment and supplies.

·       Maintain readiness of the maternity unit and delivery room at all times.

·       Provide health education on pregnancy, nutrition, safe delivery, newborn care, breastfeeding, and danger signs.

·       Support community awareness activities related to maternal and reproductive health.

·       Coordinate with Community Health Workers (CHWs) and other community structures to promote service utilization.

·       Maintain accurate and timely patient records, maternity registers, referral forms, and monthly reports.

·       Collect, compile, and submit health service data according to MHCO and MoPH reporting requirements.

·       Maintain confidentiality and proper documentation of all patient information.

·       Participate in staff meetings, trainings, supportive supervision sessions, and quality improvement initiatives.

·       Collaborate effectively with facility staff and district health authorities to ensure integrated service delivery.

Job Requirements

  • Graduated from recognized midwifery Institute
  • At least 2–3 years of relevant experience in midwife.
  • Ability to maintain records and reports accurately.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
