Community Development and Social Affairs Charity Organization (CDSACO) is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit, and non-political organization established to support the development and humanitarian needs of vulnerable communities across Afghanistan.

CDSACO is officially registered with the Ministry of Economy under the registration number 1764, and operates in coordination with relevant government line ministries and international partners.

Since its establishment, CDSACO has been working across various sectors including agriculture and food security, livelihoods, community development, education, women’s empowerment, and emergency response. CDSACO implements its programs through a dedicated team of professional staff and field workers, currently operating in several provinces of Afghanistan. Job Description

The Community Mobilizer will play a critical role in the effective implementation of agriculture project activities at the village and community levels. The position focuses on mobilizing farmers, raising awareness about project objectives, supporting beneficiary selection, distribution of inputs, facilitating training sessions, and ensuring active community participation in wheat cultivation, summer crops, vegetable farming, use of solar dryers, and micro greenhouses.

The Community Mobilizer will act as a bridge between CDSACO's technical teams and local communities, ensuring that project activities are well-understood, properly implemented, and culturally accepted by beneficiaries.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Community Engagement and Mobilization

  • Mobilize and engage local communities and farmers in all project activities.
  • Facilitate the formation of farmer groups, lead community meetings, and ensure transparency in the selection of project beneficiaries.
  • Raise awareness among communities about improved agricultural practices, climate-resilient farming, and use of project technologies (solar dryers, micro greenhouses).
  • Ensure inclusion of women, vulnerable groups, and marginalized farmers in project participation.
  • Support grievance redressed mechanisms GRM and gather community feedback.

2. Support in Project Implementation

  • Assist technical staff during the distribution of agricultural inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, greenhouse kits, and drying equipment.
  • Monitor land preparation, planting, irrigation, harvesting, and post-harvest activities in collaboration with agronomists or technical advisors.
  • Ensure that beneficiaries follow proper guidelines and practices as trained.

3. Training and Awareness Building

  • Conduct awareness sessions and field-level demonstrations for farmers and community members.
  • Support the delivery of trainings on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), crop rotation, integrated pest management, and post-harvest techniques.

4. Coordination and Communication

  • Maintain strong communication with CDSACO field staff, local shuras, community elders, and DAIL representatives.
  • Represent CDSACO positively in the field, ensuring respectful and culturally sensitive interactions.
  • Report security or access issues in the field to the supervisor in a timely manner.

5. Monitoring and Reporting

  • Collect and document field-level data including attendance sheets, beneficiary lists, and field visit reports.
  • Regularly update the field supervisor on community feedback, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Take photos and assist in gathering success stories and lessons learned from beneficiaries.
  • Submit weekly and monthly reports to the Project Manager as required.

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 2–3 years of experience in community mobilization, social work, or implementation of agriculture/livelihood projects, preferably with NGOs/INGOs.
  • Experience working with farming communities, including vulnerable groups and women.
  • Good understanding of rural community dynamics and agricultural cycles in Afghanistan.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to speak local languages (Pashto/Dari) fluently; basic English is an asset.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to remote villages and field sites.
  • Familiarity with the cultural and social norms of the target province or district.
