Job Description

Job Summary :

The Medical Doctor (MD) is responsible for delivering high-quality clinical care and medical treatment to patients at the health facility level. This includes diagnosing illnesses, prescribing appropriate medications, managing both acute and chronic conditions, and ensuring that all medical interventions align with national treatment protocols and guidelines. The MD also plays a key leadership role by supervising and mentoring health staff, enhancing their clinical skills through on-the-job training and capacity-building sessions. Furthermore, the MD actively contributes to the planning, coordination, and implementation of health and nutrition activities, working closely with other team members to improve service delivery, patient outcomes, and community health.

Responsible for overall basic health center management in the field, reporting, planning OPD sessions, drug distribution and leading other team members as per their job description.

Main responsibilities:

  • Provide Primary health care services including triage, first aid, trauma-care and control of essential communicable & Non-communicable diseases.

  • Work in collaboration with the BHC members and lead the activities.

  • Work in collaboration with the BHC staff to ensure quality medical care provision.

  • Complete and properly fill the individual card with the medical information.

  • Compile weekly and monthly reports and share with line manager over the time.

  • Raise regular supply request to line supervisor and ensure securing of BHC supplies including therapeutic food and drugs.

  • Refer the complicated cases to higher level of services and follow-up of referred cases.

  • Apply integrated management of childhood illness (IMCI).

  • Treat common childhood illnesses and screen/manage TB, malaria, hypertension, and diabetes

  • Provide basic patient support and referrals

  • Adhere to medical ethics and maintain patient confidentiality

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Job Requirements

Education :

Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized university (Exit Exam completed)

Experience / Skills :

  • At least 3 years of relevant clinical experience with INGO/NGO, preferably within BPHS and non-BPHS health facilities.

  • Proven experience working with international NGOs, including in remote and hard-to-reach areas of the country.

  • Successfully passed the MoPH Exit Exam (graduates before 2017 are exempted).

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and develop monthly reports.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions.

  • Ability to manage workload and work under pressure.

  • Solid knowledge of public health protocols and guidelines.

Languages:

Strong and effective oral and written communication skills in local languages.
