Background
EQUALITY for Peace and Development Organization (EPDO) is a women’s rights Afghan non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 2010 to empower women and youth at the community and policy level in Afghanistan. EPDO envisions Afghanistan as a peaceful, prosperous, and welfare state where all Afghans enjoy equal rights without discrimination. Therefore, EPDO aims to increase the capacity of vulnerable groups, especially women and youth, to enable them to represent their needs in all aspects of development. EPDO focuses on various spectrums of peace, security, livelihood, and development in Afghanistan — ranging from the salient need for humanitarian assistance, economic empowerment, and continuous development processes, to long-term projects for sustainable peace.
Project Background
The project aims to empower and improve the well-being of illiterate children, youth, and adults, including girls and women, and learners from returnee and host communities in Areas of Responsibilities (AoR) and their families. This will be achieved by providing targeted case management, literacy education, and livelihood skills development to enhance protection, literacy, and promote economic empowerment, while also supporting learners in their roles as parents and caregivers to foster the holistic development of their children.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and facilitate child-friendly space activities for children in Farah or Ghor provinces
- Provide a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for children to learn, play, and develop psychosocial skills
- Conduct structured and recreational activities that support learning, literacy, life skills, and emotional well-being
- Support children in coping with stress, trauma, and conflict-related experiences through play and creative activities
- Monitor and document attendance, participation, and progress of children in CFS activities
- Facilitate participation of both girls and boys, ensuring inclusivity and gender sensitivity
- Collaborate with Psychosocial Counsellors, Para Social Workers, and community members to address children’s needs
- Identify children at risk and refer them to appropriate protection or psychosocial services
- Ensure child protection, safeguarding, and safety measures are strictly followed in all CFS activities
- Provide feedback and recommendations to improve program design and learning outcomes for children
- Organizing and leading positive parenting sessions that empower caregivers with skills to promote child protection, resilience, and well‑being
- Support the preparation of reports, success stories, and documentation related to child activities
- Maintain all CFS materials, learning tools, and play resources in good condition
Participate in training and capacity-building sessions to enhance facilitation and child protection skills
Job Requirements
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Psychology, or related field
- 2–4 years of experience in child protection, CFS, or education programs
- Skills in child development, facilitation, life skills, and child safeguarding
- Ability to create a safe, inclusive, and participatory learning environment
- Proficiency in Dari/Pashto
