About Rural Rehabilitation Association for Afghanistan

Rural Rehabilitation Association for Afghanistan (RRAA) established in 1990 and registered with the Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan under registration number 50 as a non-profit, non-governmental, and non-political organization based in Kabul, Afghanistan. RRAA is a member of ACBAR and AHF/OCHA and delivers humanitarian and development services through four regional offices in the North, Central, East, and West. RRAA operates in the sectors of Rural livelihoods, local Governance, WASH, Humanitarian Emergency Response.

Job Description

RRAA is seeking a qualified and experienced Livestock Officer to support the implementation of the project. The Livestock Officer will play a key role in delivering livestock protection and productivity support to targeted beneficiaries. This includes technical guidance, input distribution, capacity building, and monitoring to improve livestock health, resilience, and household livelihoods.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct baseline surveys and support transparent beneficiary identification and selection for livestock interventions.
  • Support the distribution and proper utilization of livestock inputs, including animal feed, mineral blocks, dewormers, fodder seeds, dairy kits, and silage-making kits.
  • Provide technical guidance on livestock management, animal health, nutrition, housing, and disease prevention.
  • Organize, facilitate, and deliver technical training sessions for targeted beneficiaries on improved livestock practices.
  • Monitor livestock input distribution, usage, and outcomes to ensure compliance with project objectives.
  • Conduct regular field visits to assess livestock conditions and provide on-site technical support.
  • Prepare and submit regular field reports, progress updates, and activity documentation.
  • Coordinate closely with project staff, community leaders, and relevant stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of livestock activities.
  • Ensure all activities comply with project guidelines, donor requirements, and RRAA policies.
  • Perform any other related duties assigned by the Project Manager

Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in veterinary science, Animal Science, Livestock Management, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience in livestock development, humanitarian, or rural livelihood projects.
  3. Practical experience in livestock health, feeding, fodder production, and community-based livestock interventions.
  4. Experience in training and working with community groups and vulnerable beneficiaries, including women, is an asset.
  5. Strong communication, facilitation, and reporting skills.
  6. Willingness and ability to work in field-based and rural settings.
  7. Proficiency in local languages; basic English reporting skills preferred.
