About Community based humanitarian and development organization (CBHDO)

Community Based Humanitarian & Development Organization (CBHDO) is an Afghan non-governmental organization established in 2020, committed to supporting vulnerable and marginalized communities across Afghanistan. CBHDO delivers programs in Child Protection, Education, WASH, Health, Emergency Response, Nutrition, and Livelihoods.

CBHDO is implementing the SOS – Children on the Move Project in Kabul province in PD-17 (Khair Khana) partnership with Save the Children. The project aims to support vulnerable children through Community Children Centers (CCC)/Safe Kashana, providing education support, psychosocial activities, parenting support, and community engagement to ensure protection and well-being of children.

Under this project, CBHDO will establish and operate 02 Community Children Centers (CCC) to provide Catch-up Classes (CuC), child protection support, life skills, and recreational activities for children at risk.

To support implementation of education and child protection activities, CBHDO will recruit two CCC Facilitators to conduct learning sessions, child-friendly activities, and community engagement.

The facilitators will support the operationalization of CCC and implementation of project activities in accordance with the Scope of Work and Partnership Agreement.

Job Description

1. CCC Educational Activities

  • Conduct Catch-up Classes (CuC) for children attending CCC.
  • Support children in preparing for enrolment into formal schools after completion of the catch-up program.
  • Facilitate child-friendly educational and recreational activities.

2. Child Protection and Psychosocial Support

  • Facilitate children sessions under Safe Family Common Approach.
  • Provide life skills and social-emotional learning activities.
  • Identify children with protection concerns and refer cases to the project case management team.

3. Community Engagement

  • Support community mobilization and sensitization meetings with community leaders and parents.
  • Facilitate parenting support sessions (Positive Parenting) for caregivers.
  • Encourage community participation in CCC activities.

4. Activity Implementation

  • Support implementation of project activities including:
    • Distribution of student kits
    • Distribution of hygiene/dignity kits
    • Supporting children initiatives and activities in CCC
    • Supporting soft skills training sessions

5. Monitoring and Reporting

  • Maintain daily attendance records and activity reports.
  • Provide regular updates to the Project Officer.
  • Support data collection for project monitoring and evaluation.

6. Safeguarding and Protection

  • Ensure compliance with Save the Children safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Promote safe programming and child-friendly spaces.
  • Report any safeguarding concerns immediately according to procedures.

Job Requirements

Education

  • Minimum: High school graduate (required).

Experience

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong facilitation skills with children of different ages.
  • Ability to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment.
  • Good communication skills with children and caregivers.
  • Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding principles (preferred).
  • Ability to work respectfully in communities and travel to field locations.
  • Fluency in Dari; knowledge of Pashto is an asset.
