About Afghanistan Rehabilitation and Women Education Organization (ARWEO)
ARWEO is a nonprofit organization with a visionary focus on the rehabilitation and protection of vulnerable communities in Afghanistan. ARWEO has a strategic goal of assisting the lifesaving and immediate needs of the marginalized population including IDPs, refugees, and host communities in eastern, central, northern and central highlands regions. ARWEO has a history of 21 years implemented 86 projects with 65% of projects in Shelter, education, protection, food security, nutrition, and livelihoods. ARWEO is dedicated to transforming the lives of marginalized children including boys and girls, particularly those with immediate education, protection, and humanitarian needs, and those belonging to IDP, refugee, and host communities in the affected provinces of Afghanistan.
Job Description
Summary:
Field Monitor is responsible to ensure that project activities are implemented in line with approved work plans, quality standards, and compliance requirements by providing timely, accurate, and reliable field-based monitoring information.
Key Responsibilities
Monitoring & Verification
- Conduct regular field visits (daily/weekly) to project sites.
- Verify reported data against field observations.
- Take geo-tagged photos and documentation.
- Use checklists, surveys, and digital tools for structured monitoring.
Reporting
- Submit weekly monitoring reports with:
- Key findings and trends
- Challenges observed
- Recommended corrective actions
- Prepare incident or exception reports when needed.
Data Quality
- Cross-check data with beneficiary records and registers.
- Collaborate with the M&E team to clean and validate data.
- Assist in updating and correcting project databases.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Interact with beneficiaries, community leaders, and local partners.
- Gather feedback and issues from communities.
- Support focus group discussions and feedback loops.
Compliance
- Ensure that project activities follow organizational policies and donor requirements.
- Uphold ethical standards and do no harm principles.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, development studies, monitoring and evaluation, or a related field.
- At least three years of relevant experience in field monitoring, project implementation, or M&E.
- Previous experience in supervision, field coordination, or project implementation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, and report field-based data accurately.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision and in challenging field conditions.
- Strong capacity-building, technical, supervisory, and problem-solving skills, and proven ability to work in WFP project management.
- Strong project planning, monitoring, and evaluation, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Strong budget management and reporting skills, and an ability to oversee multiple awards from a variety of donors.

Skills and Competencies
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to travel field based on need.
- Proficient in spoken and written English
- Knowledge of local language, i.e., Dari and Pashto. (Preferred)
