“Help – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe” is a German non-governmental charity-organization duly registered with the courts of law in Germany and in several host countries, including Afghanistan. Help was founded in 1981 by concerned Members of Parliament of all parties represented in the German Parliament. We started providing humanitarian assistance for Afghan refugees in Pakistan and Iran, and soon extended to development-oriented activities. We provide aid and development support regardless of race, creed or nationality. Priorities are set based on need and upon the request from partners and vulnerable communities to cooperate fairly and transparently.
Job Description
The Agriculture Field Assistant will support community engagement, conducting project surveys and training, distribution of inputs, conducting awareness-raising sessions, and resolution of community-level issues. The role ensures transparent, inclusive implementation at the grassroots level.
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct baseline surveys in the target communities of the project and develop and implementing community mobilization plan.
- Beneficiary selection, beneficiary verification, and beneficiary registration with the MEAL unit and the project officer.
- Provide relevant technical guidance on agriculture, livestock, and Income generation, including leading participatory community livelihoods assessments.
- Engaging and building strong relationships with community members, and analysing data collected to identify the eligible beneficiaries.
- Maintains good working relations with authorities and related stakeholders
- Prepare distribution and implementation plans, take the necessary approvals from the various units, including the project officer, security manager, and program.
- Ensure the quality of the project intervention, provision of the awareness sessions, and distribution of inputs.
- Facilitate training/orientation on agriculture and livestock to initiate viable income generation activities.
- Coordinate closely with the project officer to ensure the timely implementation of the project activities and get readiness for the timely distribution of inputs for the target communities.
- Collect community mobilization and training data and assists project officer in data analysis and interpretation, and report development.
- Ensure the integration and consistent application of sound community development principles and 'Do No Harm' practices throughout all stages of project implementation
- Report community mobilization, monitoring, training, and observation information to the project officer
- Document field achievements, innovations, failures, and lessons learned to integrate into project activities and inform project strategy.
- Conduct market linkage between the community and the local provincial market.
- Under the guidance of the MEAL manager, establish the complaints response mechanisms (CRM) at the community level.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture/Animal Science
- At least 2–3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience working in rural/emergency settings with vulnerable communities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Advanced data collection and reporting skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned district.
- Must be very good in English, Dari, and Pashto
- Must have thorough knowledge of MS. Office and the Internet
- Strong interpersonal, networking, and communication skills
- Strong organizational/project planning and time management skills
- Good at planning and reporting
- Able to work under pressure and in different circumstances
