The Skills Training and Rehabilitation Society (STARS) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to humanitarian and development efforts in Afghanistan. It was founded in 1997 by a group of dedicated individuals to serve the country. STARS operates independently and apolitically, with a firm commitment to serving the most vulnerable populations, particularly women and children. Since its establishment, STARS has been steadfast in its mission to contribute to Afghanistan's development in partnership and collaboration with the global community.
STARS is focused on empowering and uplifting marginalized communities, with a particular emphasis on women and children. Through a diverse array of initiatives spanning livelihood development, agriculture, livestock management, education, child protection, healthcare, vocational training, income generation, and sustainable development, STARS strives to address the multifaceted challenges facing Afghan society.
Operating across multiple provinces, STARS engages in holistic efforts to enhance the well-being and resilience of communities. This includes the construction of shelters to provide safe havens for vulnerable women and children, ensuring their protection and security.

Skills Training and Rehabilitation Society (STARS) is committed to preventing sexual exploitation and abuse and promoting a safe and respectful working environment. STARS has a zero-tolerance policy towards sexual exploitation and abuse, sexual harassment, and any form of misconduct. All staff members are expected to adhere to STARS’ Code of Conduct and PSEA policies. The successful candidate will be required to sign and comply with these policies and participate in mandatory PSEA training. Job Description
• Provide technical guidance on fruit tree pruning, pest and disease management, irrigation, fertilization, and compost application.
• Distribution of the saplings.
• Promote improved and climate-resilient vegetable cultivation techniques, including crop rotation, soil fertility management, and integrated pest management.
• Orchard design and establishment.
• improved field irrigation techniques
• Land preparations and pits digging
• Appropriate use of chemical and organic (manure) fertilizers for the newly planted saplings.
• Integrated pest management
• Water saving techniques/technologies and develop irrigation scheduling
• Support farmers through field visits and trainings.
• Training of the beneficiaries on saplings.
• Design develops training manuals, presentations and materials required for the training to the farmers.
• Ensure close communication and coordination with project team district authorities and community elders and individual beneficiaries through regular visits participation in meeting organize joint field visits.

Job Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Agronomy, Plant Science, or a related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).
• Minimum 3–5 years of proven experience in horticulture, crop production, or agricultural project implementation.
• Strong technical knowledge of fruit, vegetable, and nursery production systems.
• Practical experience in pest and disease identification and Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
• Good understanding of soil fertility management, irrigation systems, and greenhouse production.
• Experience in conducting farmer training sessions and capacity-building activities.
• Ability to prepare technical reports, work plans, and monitoring documents.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills in local language(s) and English.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel frequently to field sites and rural areas.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Understanding of climate-smart and sustainable agriculture practices.
• Experience working with NGOs, government agricultural departments, or development projects is preferred.
