Job Descriptions:

Job Purpose:

HMIS Assistant (Health Management Information System) is responsible for collecting, recording, analyzing, and reporting health, nutrition, or program data from field-level health facilities or mobile teams. They ensure data accuracy, manage databases, train staff on HMIS tools, and prepare reports to support evidence-based decision-making and compliance with national health standards.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Data Collection & Reporting: Gather, check, and enter accurate daily/monthly data on service delivery (e.g., OPD, antenatal care, vaccinations) into HMIS databases.
  • Database Management: Maintain and update the HMIS software or databases at the field office level.
  • Data Analysis & Quality: Analyze health/nutrition data for trends, identify gaps in service delivery, and conduct data quality audits to ensure accuracy.
  • Support & Training: Train health facility staff on using updated HMIS tools and on-the-job training on case definitions to avoid double-counting.
  • Monitoring & Supervision: Frequently visit health facilities to monitor the implementation of HMIS tools and provide technical support.
  • Coordination: Represent the organization in coordination meetings with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) or other stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, Medicine (MD), or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of experience in HMIS, data management, or monitoring and evaluation.
