YAAR works across multiple sectors including protection, WASH, health, education, women’s empowerment, and emergency response.

Job Description

Job Purpose

The Pharmacy Manager – Main Office is responsible for managing pharmaceutical reporting, drug requests, coordination with provincial offices, and ensuring proper supply management for BPHS/EPHS health programs. The position ensures timely submission of drug requests to UNICEF and compliance with MoPH and donor guidelines.

Specific Responsibilities:

A. Pharmaceutical Reporting

  • Collect monthly and quarterly drug consumption and stock reports from provincial offices.
  • Validate and consolidate reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Analyze trends and identify potential shortages or overstock situations.

B. Drug Forecasting & Requests

  • Prepare drug quantification and forecast based on consumption data.
  • Submit accurate and timely drug requests to UNICEF and other relevant donors.
  • Coordinate with supply chain and logistics teams to ensure procurement aligns with program needs.

C. Coordination & Technical Support

  • Serve as a focal point between main office, provincial pharmacy teams, and UNICEF.
  • Provide guidance and support to provincial pharmacy staff regarding reporting, inventory management, and rational use of medicines.
  • Participate in planning meetings and provide input on pharmaceutical needs.

D. Inventory & Compliance

  • Monitor availability of essential medicines and supplies.
  • Track expiry dates and assist in planning redistribution if necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with MoPH pharmaceutical guidelines and donor requirements.

E. Documentation & Record-Keeping

  • Maintain organized records of drug requests, reports, and approvals.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual summaries of pharmaceutical data.
  • Support audits and inspections by donors or government authorities.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy (required); Master’s (PharmD, MPH, MSc) or equivalent preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in pharmacy management or supply chain.
  • Experience in BPHS/EPHS programs or donor-funded health projects preferred.
  • Familiarity with UNICEF procurement and reporting requirements is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical management and supply chain principles.
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
  • Good coordination and communication skills.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office, Excel, and inventory management systems).
  • Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto; English for donor reporting.
  • Experience working with national & international NGOs.
