About Youth’s Assembly for Afghanistan Rehabilitation (YAAR):

The Youth’s Assembly for Afghanistan Rehabilitation (YAAR) is a national, non-governmental, and non-profit organization founded in 1994, register no. 157, to deliver humanitarian assistance and support Afghanistan’s long-term recovery. Over the last three decades, YAAR has grown into a capable and community-focused organization with experience working in more than 17 provinces  and implemented multisectoral projects in partnership with UN agencies, INGOs, embassies, and local institutions.

Job Descriptions:

 The Pharmacy Storekeeper is responsible for managing the storage, inventory control, and distribution of pharmaceutical supplies in accordance with Afghanistan Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) regulations and BPHS/EPHS guidelines. The position ensures proper stock management, safe storage conditions, accurate record-keeping, and timely reporting to prevent stock-outs and wastage.

A. Stock Management

  • Receive, inspect, and record all incoming pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Verify quantities, batch numbers, and expiry dates.
  • Maintain bin cards and stock registers accurately.
  • Apply FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) principle.
  • Conduct regular physical stock counts (monthly/quarterly).

B. Storage & Warehouse Management

  • Ensure proper storage conditions (temperature, humidity, ventilation).
  • Arrange medicines systematically according to categories.
  • Monitor cold chain items and maintain temperature logs.
  • Separate expired, damaged, or near-expiry items.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the store.

C. Distribution

  • Issue medicines to pharmacy or health facility departments based on approved requisitions.
  • Ensure proper documentation of stock movement.
  • Prepare delivery notes and stock transfer forms.

D. Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare monthly stock reports and consumption summaries.
  • Alert supervisor about low stock levels and near-expiry items.
  • Maintain organized filing system for all stock documents.
  • Support audits and donor inspections.

E. Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with MoPH pharmaceutical regulations.
  • Maintain security of pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Follow infection prevention and control (IPC) procedures.

Job Requirements:

  1. Diploma in Pharmacy (from a recognized institute/university approved by Ministry of Higher Education or MoPH).
  2. Minimum 1–3 years in pharmacy management, dispensing, or stock control (priority for experience in BPHS/EPHS health facilities, NGO/INGO projects, or government health sector).
  3. 2+ years often preferred for roles involving inventory, supply chain, or facility-level support.
  4. Knowledge of pharmaceutical management, drug dispensing, inventory tracking, cold chain (if applicable), and basic counseling on medication use.
  5. Good mathematical skills for stock calculations and reporting.
  6. Proficiency in computing skills (MS Word, Excel for inventory/spreadsheets, basic data entry).
  7. Understanding of MoPH/BPHS pharmaceutical guidelines and protocols.
  8. Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto (spoken and written).
  9. English is an advantage (for reporting or donor documents).
