Job Descriptions:

The purpose of the Guard position in OSSHD is to ensure the safety and security of staff, beneficiaries, visitors, premises, and organizational assets, while supporting the organization’s ability to operate effectively in often challenging and high-risk environments.

Job Requirements:

  • Graduation of High School
  • A minimum of one to two years of relevant experience in a guarding or security role with national and/or international non-governmental organizations is required
  • Prior experience in office, compound, warehouse, or project-site security is desirable.
  • Knowledge of the local area and community context.
  • Willingness to work day and night shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required.
  • Physical fitness appropriate for the role.
  • Commitment to adhering to the organization’s code of conduct, safeguarding, and security policies.
  • Skills and Competencies:

  • Basic understanding of security procedures, access control, and incident reporting.
  • Ability to read and write sufficiently to maintain logbooks and complete basic reports.
  • Good communication skills and ability to interact respectfully with staff, visitors, and community members.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, integrity, and discipline.
  • Ability to remain alert, calm, and professional under pressure or in emergency situations.
  • Deliverables
  • Secure premises maintained at all times, with no unauthorized access to offices, compounds, warehouses, or project sites.
  • Timely reporting of security incidents, risks, or irregularities to supervisors or management, using established reporting formats.
  • Effective response to emergencies, such as fire, medical incidents, or security threats, in line with emergency response plans.
  • Protection of organizational assets, ensuring equipment, supplies, and facilities are safeguarded from loss or damage.
  • Professional interaction with staff, visitors, and community members, reflecting the organization’s code of conduct and humanitarian principles.
  • Confidential handling of security-related information and respect for organizational confidentiality requirements.
  • Functional security infrastructure, with timely reporting of any faults in gates, locks, lighting, or other security equipment related to hygiene behavior change.

(However, Six Months is a must to complete but to encourage OSSHD employees somehow we are flexible who work in the current OSSHd position for at least 6 months or above and are given chance to compete for an opportunity in the organization)
