About Johanniter International Assistance

Johanniter International Assistance. (www.johanniter-int.org) is a German non-governmental organisation, dedicated to excellence in the field of first aid, ambulance service, social service programmes and other projects in the medical and social field. The Federal Headquarters are based in Berlin, Germany. Johanniter International Assistance is the operational unit for humanitarian aid, development co-operation and emergency relief, implementing and supporting mostly health projects worldwide.

Johanniter is working is Afghanistan since October 2002 providing emergency aid, rehabilitation of health facilities, medical care and capacity building for community health workers, students, teachers and professionals of NGOs and government agencies in disaster preparedness and first aid skills. Johanniter’s country office is located in Kabul and has operational coverage in the North, Northeastern and central region with possibility of expansion in the South and Western provinces of Afghanistan.

Job Description

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct regular supervision of Health facilities to ensure quality service delivery in drought-affected areas.
  2. Strengthen family planning services by ensuring the timely supply and distribution of contraceptives to mobile teams.
  3. Monitor and analyze Reproductive Health (RH) and HMIS activities on a monthly basis.
  4. Prepare and submit monthly reports on maternal and child health (MCH) services provided through mobile clinics.
  5. Reduce neonatal and maternal morbidity/mortality by providing clean delivery kits and ensuring an effective referral system for complications.
  6. Deliver on-the-job and refresher training for MHNC staff on safe motherhood practices.
  7. Improve management and record-keeping related to infertility cases encountered during outreach services.
  8. Conduct community awareness sessions on Tetanus Toxoid (TT) vaccination, especially for women of reproductive age.
  9. Ensure comprehensive reproductive health services are integrated into the broader mobile primary health care response.
  10. Immediately identify and report any barriers or issues affecting service delivery to the Health Program Manager.
  11. Raise community awareness on breastfeeding, weaning foods, immunization (EPI), and prevention/treatment of malnutrition.
  12. Build staff capacity and increase community awareness on early detection of breast and cervical cancer prevention, and menopause care.
  13. Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor related to the job responsibilities

Job Requirements

Education Requirement:

MD Degree from a recognized medical University.

Experience:

Three years of relevant experience at a similar position.

Language Professions:

Proficiency in Dari or Pashto is required.
