About Organization for Women Empowerment (OWE):

The Organization for Women Empowerment (OWE) is implementing an ACTED-funded project aimed at strengthening market access and business capacities of women- and men-owned Micro and Small Enterprises (MSMEs) in Kunduz City. The project targets 8 MSMEs (5 women-owned and 3 men-owned) and focuses on business skills development, tailored mentoring, and market linkages to promote sustainable livelihoods and inclusive economic growth.


To ensure high-quality, practical, and context-appropriate capacity building, OWE seeks to engage a qualified Master Trainer to design and deliver structured business development training for the selected MSMEs.

Job Descriptions:

1. Objective of the Assignment

The objective of this assignment is to strengthen the business knowledge and practical skills of targeted MSMEs in key market access areas, enabling them to improve operational efficiency, competitiveness, and readiness to engage with local markets.

2. Scope of Work and Responsibilities

The Master Trainer will be responsible for the following tasks:

2.1 Training Design and Preparation

  • Review project documents, MSME profiles, and needs assessment findings.
  • Develop or adapt context-specific training modules and materials aligned with project objectives.
  • Design training content covering, at a minimum:
    • Business planning and business model development
    • Financial literacy, budgeting, and basic financial management
    • Product quality standards and standardization
    • Digital marketing, branding, and basic e-commerce
    • Regulatory compliance and local market requirements
  • Prepare practical tools, exercises, case studies, and handouts suitable for adult learners and the local context.

2.2 Training Delivery

  • Deliver structured and participatory training workshops for 8 selected MSMEs.
  • Apply interactive and gender-sensitive facilitation methods that encourage peer learning and practical application.
  • Ensure each training session includes hands-on exercises linked directly to participants’ businesses.
  • Adapt training methods and pacing based on participant needs and feedback.

2.3 Coordination and Technical Support

  • Coordinate closely with OWE project staff to ensure alignment with the overall project workplan.
  • Provide technical guidance to ensure consistency between training content and subsequent mentoring activities.
  • Contribute to improving training approaches based on lessons learned during delivery.

2.4 Reporting

  • Submit brief training reports after each workshop, including attendance lists, topics covered, key achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
  • Provide technical inputs for project progress and final reports upon request.

3. Deliverables

  • Context-specific training curriculum and training materials.
  • Delivery of the agreed number of training workshops.
  • Training reports and participant feedback summaries.

4. Duration and Level of Effort

The assignment will involve intermittent inputs throughout the project period, including preparation time and delivery of multiple training workshops. Each workshop is expected to last 2–3 days.

Job Requirements:

1. Required Qualifications and Experience

  • University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Entrepreneurship, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in MSME development, entrepreneurship, or business training.
  • Proven experience delivering business and market access trainings.
  • Strong understanding of financial literacy, marketing, and small business management.
  • Demonstrated experience working with women entrepreneurs and applying gender-sensitive approaches.
  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills in relevant local languages.
  • Previous experience working with NGOs or donor-funded projects is an asset.

2. Performance and Evaluation

The Master Trainer’s performance will be assessed based on:

  • Quality, relevance, and practicality of training materials.
  • Effective delivery and participant engagement.
  • Alignment of training outcomes with project objectives.
  • Timely submission of required reports.
