Job Descriptions:

Purpose:

The vision of MECC is to provide high quality architectural and construction services to the nation and the first choice of the Afghan Government.

The Chief Surveyor works under the overall guidance of the Project Manager. The Surveyor in general is responsible for the preliminary technical work on a project site and conducting surveys pre-during and after construction.

Specific Objectives and Duties:

  • To conduct preliminary survey for selected roads as per program and plan, this includes visual survey, photos, map checking and site visits.
  • To plan and conduct an engineering survey for the selected roads, structures and civil works, including a Topographic survey and recording all site related details.
  • Collect all relevant date from all surveyors i.e. total station data, CAD designs, maps and back it up properly to prevent loss or damage to it.
  • To checking the layout of the structures e.g. Centre line, culverts, bridges
  • To formulate a topographic survey for project sites using TOTAL STATIONS equipment and monitoring related aspects after construction.
  • Guide surveyors on using engineering software’s of Civil3D to process the data collected with survey equipment’s (Total Station, Level machine and GPS).
  • Final preparation/corrections of maps: project plans, longitudinal profiles, cross-sections, etc.
  • Work closely with Design Engineers in estimation and preparation of BOQs
  • To conduct post-construction survey and ensuring the construction/design is in accordance with the BoQ.
  • To build the capacity of Surveyors in the site offices in the use of survey equipment and surveying, in collaboration with the Project Manager.
  • To be responsible to ensure surveying equipment is in good working order.
  • To co-ordinate with construction of Bridge and Roads Design Units, and other units as applicable, to ensure dissemination of surveying data.
  • To perform any other duty in line with these ToR’s as required

Job Requirements:

  • BSc. degree in Civil Engineering with extensive working experience of the survey in road construction project.
  • At least 6 years work experience in Surveyor position of the road construction project, preferably with Local and international donors-funded projects, MoPW, Afg-Chin, UN agencies and NGO’s on relevant programs in Afghanistan
  • Leadership quality and interpersonal skill.
  • Ability to work in tense and pressure environment.
  • Problem solution skill.
  • Fluency in English and Pashto, Dari a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer literate with e-mail, word processing and spreadsheet.
  • Ability to design database and prepare meaningful reports.
