Mobaligh Educational & Social Services Organization (MESSO) is an independent, non-governmental, humanitarian organization serving Afghan communities with equity, transparency, and inclusiveness. MESSO delivers services across education, humanitarian relief, agriculture, civic services, emergency assistance, and social welfare sectors.
As the organization expands its programs and partnerships, strong leadership is required to ensure high-quality implementation, strategic growth, and efficient organizational management.
MESSO seeks a Kabul-based Director General to run its Afghanistan operations and drive the organization’s strategic growth. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the role will focus on providing effective program delivery, expanding partnerships, and guiding the organization towards long-term sustainability. Key deliverables include annual strategic plans and budgets, quarterly Board updates, program implementation reports, strengthened donor engagement, and performance reviews of staff and program units.
-Provide strategic leadership to align MESSO’s mission, vision, and goals, implementing Board decisions and driving long-term organizational strategies.
-Oversee planning, execution, monitoring and evaluation of programs across education, humanitarian aid, agriculture, civic services, emergency relief, and social welfare, ensuring quality and responsiveness to community needs.
-Lead financial management and resource mobilization, including budgeting, donor engagement, fundraising, and partnership expansion, while ensuring compliance with financial policies.
-Build and sustain a motivated workforce by overseeing recruitment, performance evaluation, capacity building, and safeguarding practices that promote inclusiveness and gender equality.
-Represent MESSO in national and international forums, strengthening partnerships with UN agencies, NGOs, government entities, and community stakeholders, and serving as the organization’s primary spokesperson.
-Drive organizational development by strengthening policies, systems, and accountability frameworks, ensuring compliance with NGO laws, managing risk and security, and maintaining transparency in reporting to the Board and donors.
