Maihan Humanitarian Convergence Organization (MHCO) is a national non-government, non-political, and non-profit organization registered with the Ministry of Economy, committed to delivering humanitarian services across Afghanistan. The Transport Assistant supports the daily management and coordination of MHCO’s vehicle fleet in Nangarhar. Responsibilities include scheduling vehicle assignments, maintaining accurate usage and fuel records, monitoring vehicle conditions, and assisting in fleet maintenance and driver supervision. The role ensures vehicles are safe, compliant with regulations, and efficiently utilized for program activities. The Transport Assistant also prepares fleet reports, supports documentation for incidents or maintenance, and assists in implementing cost-effective measures. This position requires coordination with program teams, drivers, and service providers to maintain smooth and safe transport operations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist in the daily scheduling and coordination of vehicle assignments, ensuring optimal use of fleet resources.
• Assist in coordinating with program teams to meet transportation needs for field trips, deliveries, and other operations.
• Maintain accurate records of vehicle requests, usage logs, and driver assignments.
• Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules, ensuring timely servicing and repairs in line with RI’s policies.  
• Inspect vehicles regularly to ensure they are safe, roadworthy, and compliant with regulatory and internal standards.
• Coordinate with approved garages and suppliers for vehicle maintenance and repairs.
• Assist in managing the driver team, ensuring that they adhere to schedules, safety standards, and internal policies.
• Monitor drivers' daily performance and compliance with driving regulations, reporting any concerns to the Fleet Officer.
• Monitor fuel consumption across the fleet, ensuring efficient use of fuel and reporting discrepancies.
• Assist in preparing fuel usage reports and maintaining accurate fuel logs.
• Collect and compile fleet-related data, such as mileage, fuel consumption, vehicle conditions, and incident reports.
• Prepare weekly and monthly reports on fleet activities, usage, and any maintenance issues.
• Support the Sr. SCO Officer in analyzing fleet efficiency and implementing cost-saving measures.
• Assist in ensuring that all vehicles comply with local transport regulations, insurance requirements, and safety protocols.
• Assist in maintaining updated vehicle documentation, including licenses, permits, and insurance.
• Support in responding to any vehicle accidents or incidents, ensuring proper documentation and reporting

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field.d
• At least 3-4 years’ experience in a similar position or equivalent at NGOs.
• Fluent in Dari, Pashto, and English, Written and spoken.
• Computer skill at operator level, especially with MS office packages.
• Familiar with planning, budgeting and report writing.
• Honest, active, and well mannered.
• Ready to work, live and travel in an intricate and strenuous environment
