About Action Against Hunger:

Action Against Hunger/Action Contre La Faim (AAH/ACF) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that was created in France in1979. AAH/ACF has been active in Afghanistan in the medical, nutrition, food security, and water and sanitation fields since 1995.AAH/ACF improved access to health and nutrition services for the most vulnerable people, who live in remote areas without a localhealth system. In particular, the country team supported pregnant and breastfeeding women and children under five, who are atgreater risk of malnutrition. Nutrition programs rely on an integrated approach, addressing both primary and underlying causes, inorder to have a lasting impact on nutritional status. The country team worked at community level, in villages and at provincial level,strengthening the public health system. It also worked at national level to ensure reliable information about the nutritional situation reached the wider humanitarian community. Covid-19 prevention was integrated into all interventions and additional responseactivities were implemented, such as the disinfection of health facilities and public places, cash assistance, psychosocial support andthe distribution of hygiene kits to affected populations.

Job Descriptions:

Purpose of the Position

  • The FSL Technical Supervisor is responsible to work under the direct supervision of FC & FM in the base and FSL HoD & DHoD in country office for the overall planning, implementation, supervision and technical support of food security and livelihoods activities in Helmond province under UN-Women funded project implementing by ACF in Helmond province.
  • This technical role ensures that FSL day to day activities are implemented according to plan, technically sound great in accordance with project objectives along to the ACF organizational strategies and donor requirements.

 

Main Responsibilities

1. Program Implementation & Technical Oversight

  • To lead the implementation of FSL activities including vegetables production and processing, dairy production and processing, tailoring and other project related activities.
  • To ensure technical quality and adherence to project design, donor guidelines, and humanitarian standards.
  • To supervise the day to day implementation and work of trainers and trainees for vegetables production & processing, Dairy production & processing and tailoring trainings.
  • To support beneficiary selection processes using pre-identified criteria.
  • Compile and develop livelihood start-up and work with team to distribute the kits that are in the BOQs according to the type of training.

 

2. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEAL)

  • To carry out the need/market assessments to determines community needs and profitable livelihood activities in collaboration with MEAL.
  • To apply project monitoring tools and ensure regular data collection and reporting with close cooperation of MEAL team.
  • To conduct field visits to assess progress and provide technical support.
  • To document lessons learned and best practices for continuous improvement.

 

3. Coordination & Representation

  • To coordinate with local authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation.
  • To represent the FSL activities in cluster meetings, coordination forums, and local authorities.
  • To ensure community engagement and accountability throughout the project cycle.

 

4. Team Management & Capacity Building

  • To supervise and mentor the project team especially trainers.
  • To organize training sessions on technical topics such as project orientation, business development and other livelihoods programs.
  • To promote teamwork and participatory approaches in project delivery.

 

5. Reporting & Documentation

  • To prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for the planned activities and will share with FSL department and FC.
  • To maintain accurate records of activities, beneficiaries, toolkits and distributions.
  • To contribute to donor reports and proposal development as needed.

Job Requirements:

Qualification/level of study:

  • University degree in the fields of Agriculture, food security or Animal Husbandry. Master degree in the relevant field will be a strong asset.
  • Having high experience in business administration, skill development, capacity building programs, economic and resilience development, income generating activities, agriculture and food security will be a strong asset.

 

Skills required:

Experience:

  • At least 3-5 years of working experience in FSL and Economic Recovery projects with in the NGOs context.
  • Experience working in complex humanitarian settings, preferably in Afghanistan.
  • Strong technical knowledge in IGA, food security and livelihoods activities.
  • Proven staff training skills and capacities in adapting trainings curriculum.

 

Required Skills:

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication & negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in remote field locations and stay overnight at service delivery point in the field.
  • Commitment to humanitarian principles and community empowerment.
  • Strong knowledge of local market and business development
  • Creativity and problem-solving skills
  • Enhanced community mobilisation and sensitization skills
  • Excellent reporting skill.

 

Languages:

  • Fluent in Pashto & Dari (Witten, spoken, Read).
  • Basic in English (Witten, Spoken, Reading).
