BBC Media Action is the BBC’s international development charity. We produce creative programmes in multi-media formats which inform and engage audiences around key humanitarian issues; and strengthen the humanitarian sector through capacity building. Our work is built on insights from our research and engagement with communities. BBC Media Action delivers a portfolio of humanitarian projects in Afghanistan on a variety of themes including community engagement, nutrition, maternal health and WASH.

Job Descriptions:

The primary role is Dari Presenter, with additional responsibilities as Assistant Producer. The person will work as part of BBC Media Action’s production team in Afghanistan, producing and presenting weekly audio content for radio. Responsibilities include:

  • Researching key topics and developing programme content.
  • Writing and reviewing scripts in Dari, with understanding of Pashto and English.
  • Presenting programmes and conducting interviews with guests and communities.
  • Recording, editing, and revising audio content to meet BBC editorial and technical standards.
  • Inviting and coordinating guests and programme participants from across Afghanistan.
  • Supporting the production team as an Assistant Producer, including mentoring local partner radio stations on humanitarian programming.

Job Requirements:

What We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in broadcasting, content production, or related media roles.
  • Experience presenting on radio or digital platforms.
  • Fluency in Dari, with good command of Pashto & English.
  • Strong storytelling, scriptwriting, and audio editing skills (e.g., Adobe Audition, Premiere).
  • Passion for humanitarian issues and understanding of maternal health, nutrition, or WASH is an advantage.
  • Ability to engage diverse audiences and communities across Afghanistan.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
