Key Responsibilities

1. Telematics Platform Operations:

• Provision, configure, and maintain the core telematics server platform (cloud or on-premise);
• Manage user accounts, objects, groups, reports, alerts, and geofencing policies;
• Enforce client-specific data retention windows and historical reporting requirements;
• Customize dashboards, notifications, and exports per service agreements;
• Monitor system health and SLAs; proactively tune for performance; and availability.

2. Device Configuration & Support:

• Onboard and configure GPS/IoT devices via over-the-air (OTA), SMS, or wired tools;
• Validate GNSS/GSM connectivity, I/O behavior, and raw AVL data integrity;
• Maintain a library of configuration templates and troubleshooting guides;
• Liaise with hardware vendors for firmware updates, technical escalations, and beta testing.

3. Sensor & Peripheral Integrations:

• Integrate BLE fuel sensors, temperature/humidity modules, CAN-bus adapters, and other peripherals;
• Calibrate sensors, set reporting thresholds, and resolve communication anomalies;
• Build automated workflows for real-time telemetry ingestion and anomaly alerts.

4. Mobile Application Administration:

• Manage white-label iOS/Android app packaging, store submissions, and version rollouts;
• Implement API key management, push-notification configurations, and permission handling;
• Troubleshoot app performance, location services, and user-authentication issues.

5. Infrastructure & Network Management

• Administer Linux (Ubuntu/Debian) and Windows Server environments, including patching and access controls;
• Configure virtualization/container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes) and IaC tools (Ansible, Terraform);
• Design secure network topologies: VPNs, VLANs, firewalls, load balancers, and remote-site connectivity.

6. Database Administration

• Manage relational (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis) data stores;
• Optimize schema design, indexing, and query performance;
• Schedule and validate backups, retention policies, and disaster-recovery drills.

7. Security & Compliance

• Implement and enforce security best practices: intrusion prevention, SSL/TLS, SSH key management;
• Conduct vulnerability scanning, log auditing, and incident-response exercises;
• Document and test disaster-recovery procedures and business-continuity plans.

8. Technical Responsibilities & Tools

• Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes (Helm)
• Automation: Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, or Chef
• Monitoring: Prometheus/Grafana, ELK Stack, Splunk
• CI/CD: Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI
• Scripting: Python, Bash, PowerShell
• Networking: TCP/IP, VPN (IPsec/OpenVPN), VLANs, load-balancing (HAProxy, NGINX)
• Databases: MySQL/PostgreSQL clustering, MongoDB replica sets, Redis caching
• APIs & Messaging: RESTful services, OAuth2, MQTT, RabbitMQ/Kafka

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, or related field.
• 5+ years’ experience in system administration for production-grade services.
• Proven track record with telematics platforms or IoT back-ends.
• Hands-on with Linux server management, virtualization, and networking.
• Strong database-administration and scripting/automation skills.
• Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and stakeholder-management abilities.

Preferred Skills & Certifications

• Certifications: RHCE, AWS/Azure SysOps, CKA, or equivalent
• Prior experience with GPS tracking hardware (e.g., Teltonika, Queclink)
• Familiarity with BLE sensor ecosystems and CAN-bus data flows
• Agile/Scrum workflow experience and technical-writing proficiency

Language & On-Site Requirements

• Fluency in English (required); Dari or Pashto (preferred)
• Occasional travel to customer sites and data centers for rollouts or escalations
• Participation in a rotating on-call schedule for emergency response
