Afghanistan Development and Welfare Services Organization (ADWSO), an Afghan Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), has been operating in Afghanistan since December 2008. ADWSO’s priority sector areas are Child Protection, Capacity Building, Rule of Law, and Women Empowerment.
• Provide psychological support (one on one or group counseling) to the project target groups according to international principles and policies or other methodologies decided by the ADWSO organization.
• Assessment of site for the establishment of child-friendly spaces.
• Assist in the development and provision of psychosocial activities to IDPs, UASC, street working children, war-affected and other children at risk.
• Undertake the social investigation about each individual child case and ensure that all related information is collected properly through reliable sources.
• Conduct training for the community on psychological child development and parenting skills, etc.
• Supervise and provide counseling training and technical counseling support to social workers, volunteers, community structures, CFS facilitators directly involved with the psychosocial component of the project.
• Monitoring the child-friendly spaces for ensuring adequate child protection services.
• Ensure timely implementation of psychosocial support activities for affected children.
• Coordinate services to beneficiaries with other organizational entities involved in psychosocial and mental health services.
• Conduct home visits to assess individual psychosocial needs.
• Develop a plan to follow up the referred cases.
• Compile monthly and quarterly counseling reports on the referred cases and provide the best solutions to cases.
• Perform any other professional duty assigned to the supervisor.
Bachelor degree in psychology, social science or medical with psychosocial background is preferable
• Experience in the provision of psychosocial services to IDP and street working children is an advantage
• Good report writing and communication skills
• A team player with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Understanding of protocol and ethics around Child Care and Children’s Rights
• Computer literate (MS Office suite)
• Keen interest and enthusiasm in working for and with children
• Report-writing skills
• Willingness to move and monitor activities in the different villages/district
