1. Background Information
The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is an operational arm of the United Nations, supporting the successful implementation of its partners' peacebuilding, humanitarian and development projects around the world. UNOPS supports partners to build a better future by providing services that increase the efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability of peace-building, humanitarian and development projects. Mandated as a central resource of the United Nations, UNOPS provides sustainable project management, procurement and infrastructure services to a wide range of governments, donors and United Nations organizations.
Project Information
Following the political events in Afghanistan in August 2021, the subsequent economic collapse has led to an unprecedented humanitarian crisis putting over 24 million people in immediate need of aid. To provide immediate short-term livelihood opportunities and deliver urgent essential services in rural and urban areas, UNOPS is working with funders to implement a large-scale community resilience program. The initiative aims to reach an estimated 1.1 million households, or 7.5 million Afghans,with livelihoods and income support. In addition, 9 million Afghans in some 6,200 rural communities and 8 cities will benefit from improved access to essential social services through strengthening the capacity of community institutions in inclusive service delivery. Most recently, UNOPS added specific services in relation to the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse and sexual harassment to the project..
Job-Specific Information
Under the direct supervision of the Diversity and Inclusion Officer , The PSEA/SH will support the Diversity and Inclusion Officer in designing and organizing training sessions and will deliver training sessions on Respectful Workplace (PSEA/SH) to contractor staff, laborers, and community members in the project area. The role focuses on building awareness and practical understanding of SEA/SH risks, prevention measures, reporting mechanisms, and survivor-centered response in line with UNOPS policies and UN standards.
The Trainers will be required to have frequent travels to provinces and rural and urban communities for conducting training sessions.
