Afghan Family Guidance Association (AFGA) is an Afghan non-governmental, not-for-profit and non-political organization established in 1968. AFGA has been working in the field of Reproductive health and Rights since its inception and has recently become an associate member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).

AFGA activities were suspended due to war and conflict in the country for ten years (1992-2002) and resumed its activities in 2002 with financial support from International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).

IPPF is an alliance of 151 family planning associations known as Member Associations which has projects in over 180 countries. IPPF continues to be the largest civil society provider of reproductive health information and services in the world

Job Descriptions:

Job Summary:

AFGA seeks to hire a qualified candidate for the position of Reproductive Health training Officer for its UNFPA-funded project. The RH Training Officer will work under the direct supervision of the Program Manager. She/he is required to develop, coordinate, and conduct Reproductive Health (RH) trainings across the country. She/he ensures the integration of the project’s targets & expected outcomes throughout the training & project life cycle.  The following are the major duties and responsibilities:

Specific Responsibilities:

Administration & Coordination:

  • Establish & develop the project’s overall training plan and make sure the training plan is implemented accordingly. This may also include the training design and development of the training program.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate & ensure timely implementation of the training and relevant activities at management and supervisory levels.
  • Coordinate the logistical requirements of training with the admin & logistics departments of AFGA and make sure all the necessary items are procured and delivered.
  • Coordinate the training at provincial & regional level with the relevant stakeholders and governmental & non-governmental authorities to make sure the training is implemented successfully.
  • Play a key role in the achievement of the intended results and objectives of the training in the targeted provinces.
  • Ensure budget utilization and target achievements of trainings are reviewed at least once a month as per the work plan to make sure the budget is not underspent or overspent.
  • Ensure the quality of training materials’ translation from English into Dari and Pashto languages.
  • Allocate duties and specific responsibilities to Training Officer(s) and training assistant and supervise to make sure that she/he perform well and in line with the training requirements, donor procedures, their job descriptions, and AFGA standards.

Monitoring:

  • Oversee the implementation of the training, ensuring that technical quality and standards are considered and respected during the implementation.
  • Support the monitoring of the training delivered with the M&E Team.
  • Provide need-based coaching to the trainers for rectification of the gaps identified during the monitoring visits.
  • Contribute to the design & refinement of M&E tools and framework.
  • Support in conducting M&E-related assessments and surveys.
  • Support in collecting data as per the M&E framework requirements.

Reporting:

  • Provide regular and timely updates on progress and challenges to the Line Manager.
  • Draft (internal) weekly, bi-monthly & monthly narrative reports on the trainings conducted.
  • Draft external training progress reports, ensuring the quality and accuracy of technical information provided.
  • Any other task relevant to the area of duty.

Job Requirements:

  • Higher education in the medical field (MD, Nurse, Bachelor in midwifery, etc.)
  • Similar experience in the reproductive & maternal field is preferable.
  • Strong technical knowledge of the primary health care services with a specific focus on Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal and Child health (RMNCHA) on urban health, and knowledge of adolescent health will be a plus.
  • Well familiar with the Afghanistan health services delivery system.
  • At least 5 years’ proven work experience as a Training Officer, Master Trainer, Training Facilitator, or similar roles.
  • Ability to complete full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate).
  • Fluency in English, Dari, and Pashtu Languages.
  • MS Office proficiency.
  • Advanced organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to travel to various provinces of Afghanistan.
