Job Descriptions:

Position Summary

The Finance Officer is responsible for managing end-to-end financial operations across bookkeeping, budgeting, payroll, compliance, and financial reporting. The role requires exceptional accuracy, documentation discipline, and fluency in digital accounting workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Transactions & Systems

  • Record and reconcile daily financial transactions in the accounting system (QuickBooks)
  • Maintain general ledger, cash books, bank journals, and audit trails
  • Verify and process payment vouchers, journal entries, and financial postings
  • Monitor and reconcile bank accounts, cash balances, and expense accounts
  • Enforce data integrity by preventing unauthorized edits or deletions
    Accounts Payable (A/P)
  • Validate vendor invoices, obtain approvals, and record liabilities
  • Schedule and process vendor payments, ensuring documentation compliance
  • Track outstanding payables and maintain supplier reconciliation files
    Accounts Receivable (A/R)
  • Generate client invoices based on contracts and service delivery
  • Track receivables, follow up on unpaid balances, and resolve billing discrepancies
  • Maintain A/R aging reports and revenue recognition summaries
    Payroll Administration
  • Prepare monthly payroll sheets including deductions, allowances, and approvals
  • Maintain payroll records for internal and external clients
  • Ensure timely salary disbursement and compliance with tax and labor laws
  • Reconcile payroll liabilities and coordinate filings with relevant authorities
    Budgeting & Financial Analysis
  • Support preparation and monitoring of operational and project budgets
  • Generate cost comparison reports and highlight deviations from forecasts
  • Participate in budget revision processes and maintain expenditure summaries
    Reporting & Audit
  • Produce accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Assist in audit preparation with complete documentation and reconciliation
  • Respond to internal review queries and maintain audit-ready records
    Documentation & Compliance
  • Maintain a structured filing system for financial records, contracts, and approvals
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are supported by proper documentation
  • Uphold confidentiality and compliance across finance-related workflows
    Additional Support
  • Liaise with departments (HR, Procurement, Operations) for finance coordination
  • Assist in financial policy implementation and system improvements
  • Perform other finance-related duties assigned by management

Job Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a relevant field
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in finance or accounting roles
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and MS Excel
  • Knowledge of Afghanistan financial, tax, and payroll regulations
  • Strong command of English, Pashto, and Dari
