NSRDO was registered in the Ministry of Planning by decision no. (951) dated 25/6/1383 and entitled to work in the capital, Kabul, and other provinces. This is also reregistered in the Ministry of Economy by decision no. (598) dated 8/6/06. Additionally, the US Embassy, the European Commission, the Canadian Fund, UNPP, UNGM, MoLSA, MoMD, MoE, and MoPH all have NSRDO registered.

NSRDO operates solely in Afghanistan, aiming to transform itself into one of Afghanistan’s foremost- developed NGOs. Although it continues to respond to the needs of rural communities in order to improve their living condition and utilize the resource in a well and transparent manner. Job Descriptions:

The WASH Construction Assistant Engineer will assist in the design, implementation, supervision, and monitoring of WASH and school rehabilitation projects. This role involves providing technical support at the field level to ensure that construction activities adhere to quality, safety, environmental, and organizational standards.

3. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the technical design of WASH and construction projects, including latrines, water supply systems, drainage, and shelters.
  • Supervise construction activities in the field to ensure quality and timely completion of projects.
  • Support the preparation of bills of quantities (BoQs), technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with contracts, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Conduct regular field visits for technical assessments and progress monitoring.
  • Ensure adherence to national and international standards for WASH and construction.
  • Prepare weekly or monthly progress reports and maintain comprehensive site documentation.
  • Liaise with community members and local authorities to foster participation and acceptance of projects.
  • Provide technical input during community awareness and training sessions related to WASH facilities and hygiene practices.
  • Identify and report challenges or risks encountered during project implementation.
  • Ensure the integration of protection, environmental sustainability, and gender considerations throughout all project phases.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience in WASH or construction projects, preferably within development or humanitarian contexts.
  • Proven experience in site supervision, technical drawing, and the preparation of BoQs.
  • Familiarity with relevant standards (e.g., SPHERE, WHO, national building codes).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS, or other engineering software is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Strong field coordination and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in remote or challenging environments.
  • Excellent communication skills and cultural sensitivity.
