Job Summary

The Video Editor is responsible for carrying out a range of duties.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Edits videos to targeted length and specifications.
2. Handles and organizes raw and edited video files.
3. Exports videos and facilitates mobile and web distribution.
4. Participate in shoots of videos and produces content as necessary.
5. Explores different versions and directions.
6. Ensures compliance with highest industry standards.
7. Adjusts formats and file sizes as needed.
8. Edits audio and soundbites for projects.
9. Edit photographs professionally for different clients and purposes.
10. Edits photos and illustrations.
11. Manipulate and edit film pieces in a way that is invisible to the audience.
12. Take a brief to grasp production team’s needs and specifications.
13. Review shooting script and raw material to create a shot decision list based on scenes’ value and contribution to continuity.
14. Input music, dialogues, graphics and effects.
15. Create rough and final cuts.
16. Ensure logical sequencing and smooth running.
17. Consult with stakeholders from production to post-production process.
18. Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry’s best practices to maximize efficiency.
19. Any other tasks which might be assigned by the line manager. 

• Minimum 3 year of video editing and post-production experience
• Proficient in various non-linear video editing tools and other software (Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Adobe Illustration, Light room)
• Deep understanding of digital trends and editing principles
• Creative and innovative
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Bachelor’s degree in arts, journalism or related field
• Proficiency in Dari, Pashto and English communication
